    Recommend an electric lawnmower?

My wonderful petrol flymo has shat itself, and though I've got a spare I can't be arsed building a working one out of the bits. (Rather be riding, or working on the bike).

While I never ever thought I'd "go that way", I'm thinking an ELECTRIC mower (with catcher) would be the sensible choice for a replacement.

(Very small lawn. Very flat. Power available and I already use an electric line trimmer someone gave me. I'm sick of mixing 2-stroke, too.)

Anyone got a recommendation of brand/model/shop?

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
I would highly recommend speaking to the guys in Elmers on Cuba Street. It's a great family run business and they won't put you wrong.

We've got a masport electric one that's still going after 20 years, in that time it's cost me a fortune in parts ($35 for a new blade and $11 for bearings for the motor) and the plastic body has a couple of bits broken off, but it still mows the lawns good.

The cord has only been run over once, that seems to be most people's concern with an electric mower but an orange cord is surprisingly easy to spot on a green lawn, if you have half a brain or more.

They are expensive for what they are and after a few years the battery's are hard to replace.(more than the whole mower is worth) A chorded one is easier in the long run.
I think the problem with my one was the charger. It over charged during the long weeks between mows in winter even though it was meant to be left plugged in.
