    scratch that - the tubing is mega brittle, so back to plan A - anyone got some tubing they don;t want?

    A 7mtr length of 12mmx2mm isn'tthat expensive surely. (i'm picking about $30 from a steel merchant)
    Steel n Tube, or a smaller local crew should be able to sort you out, and cut it into designed lengths for you.
    We use TJ's steel in Hamilton. I'll get a price for you next week if you want.
    Also, call into any local light fabrication co, and ask polightly for some offcuts. They can be a mtr in length.
    Stay away from furniture grade. The wall thickness is too light for decent bends.
