"Honour killing" victim's funeral 28 January

I don't want to seem callous or anything here, but...

On RNZ news this morning it was announced that the woman burnt to death last week near Huntly has her funeral today.

In true journalistic fashion they finished off by saying "Her body will be cremated"...

And I thought "Well, how ironic is THAT?"

(Yeah, I know, I have a sick mind...)

Amnesty International estimate there are over 5000 'bride burnings' every year in India. And people say they are embarrassed to be a Kiwi. Whatever. That's an average of nearly 100 young women being burnt to death every fucking week, because some shithole country decided that woman are lower than, well do they burn dogs over there in 'honour killings'? Fucking cunts.

    I couldn't agree more...

Mind you, it's not all one way traffic. A few years ago now, there was a case here in The Tron when a disillusioned mistress (Indian) asked her paramour (also Indian) to meet here in a quiet spot on the northern edge of the city. He pulled up in his car and wound down the window. She came over to him, pulled a jug full of petrol out, tipped it in the window onto his lap and followed that with a lighted match...I daresay he was not able to use the offending member for quite some time after that.

I knew this girl. Amy was a lovely attractive quiet woman who had suffered a lot. Raped, beaten, the treatment condoned by her family ( husbands right), Doesn't make what she did right, but by all accounts, the law wasn't doing anything to protect her. I wonder if the same story isn't behind this .

My first thought was that they were damn efficient starting the cremation before she was even dead.

So you are saying she was the wife, and not the mistress?

Not that it should really matter I guess.

Remember, this nation of bride burners and dis-figurers (India) got all shirty and righteous when some Kiwi yobbo mocked one of their MP's called Dipsheet or something like it.

    Double standard?

Their country has more of them than NZ by quite a bit.

Add 'tall poppy syndrome' and you can't win if you're a Kiwi.
