Smile Just got a bike after many years.

    HI all,
Hav'nt owned a bike in years but really liked them when i was young. Ive hired a few over the years when over seas. Did a trip with my daughter a few years back around Hawaii seeing the volcano's and stuff, she riding pillion, then another trip in Australia from Brisbane to Cairns and up north to the Daintree. On both i hired a Harley. Liked it but also found them a bit slow on the corners, but comfortable on a road cruise.

I really dont know if ive made the right decision on buying a bike, i wanted a cross between sports and a cruiser so have bought a Yamaha MTO1. Should see it next week.

The names Nev, i live in Christchurch, thought i might join the local Ulyyses club and do some weekend rides and stuff. Im mid fifties and wondering if im up to riding this thing. Suppose i could always move it on and buy something more sedate. Anyone else got one of these machines. Really looking forward to itb though.

    Cheers

Welcome to KB, I believe there is a fella who comes on the Wednesday Night Ride who also has a MT-01, it's a bit of a beast!

His username is CeeJay I think.

The link I have added below is the thread where the rides are talked about each week, where we go etc.

The usual runs are to Akaroa or North up through Greta Valley etc, or along the Summit Road and around the bays.

    Hope this helps

Welcome to KB and welcome back to riding. What you ride isn't that relevant since the throttle has more than one position......if you can't get comfortable with the bike you can always change to something else.
Know a guy whose comeback (after 20yrs off) bike was a Hyabusa. Didn't take his back, knees and wrists too long (and a couple of "Oh Shit" moments) to figure out that this was the wrong bike for him. His wife was not to impressed on the back either.
He now has a Harley and they both love it, just took a year to find the right mount for them.
