According to the science folk, that's already happening and can take hundreds of years to complete. They also mention rips in Earths magnetic field that would allow the suns raditation to sweep through unabated, all bar the atmoshpere... a bad day to be sunbathing if yer in the right place at the wrong time...
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

This place is a shit hole anyway, SSDD.

In reference to our civilization as a whole, that is.

As are all preditictions, but some have more skill than others. Solar studies are fortunately not a new branch of astrophysics, but it is one we are still learning about.

Dr Theodore Landscheit http://bourabai.narod.ru/landscheidt/ is currently the world's most eminent solar physicist, and some years ago I had the honour of being part of an open Peer review of one of his early papers. He was the first to predict the current minimum and it appears that it is likely to be named after him. He made the prediction prior to the end of the previous solar cycle, while NASA are still updating their prediction monthly.

Do you mean the solar pole reversal, or the terrestial pole reversal?

The solar one is happening right on schedule, but the terrestial one isn't due for quite some time yet.

I thought the earths magnetic field was due for a reversal? Or have I been duped by another TV show and not double checking the references

The earths magnetic reversals have been sparodic and inconsistant in the past. So inconsistant that it has varied from 5 times in less than a century to 42 million years between reversals. Currently it is around 750,000 years since the last reversal. The exact time or period of the next reversal cannot yet be predicted, but we do know that it will be at a time of low magnetic field strength that we aren't yet seeing.

Don't scoff, guys. This is real. And serious. Kb has been running slow for me since yesterday lunchtime.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    They're herererererere !!!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

There be "life" and water on Mars already

here's a link that sort of explains it. I couldn't find the stuff i'd read (must add bookmark ), but it was a guy from Liverpool University... anyhoo, I found it while looking for reasons behind the "recent" birds, fish and crab deaths and he was "saying" something about the magnetic field diminishing and ripping open over the equator... It was about a month ago, so I could be wrong with some of those details...
