Clearly there is no way that item would have approval for use on New Zealand roads.

yeh saw that yesterday. My guess is it either stops flow once a set pressure is reached, or hold a constant line pressure once the set pressure is reached by allowing fluid to accumulate in itself. Either way would make for sketchy brake feel, and interesting times calibrating it for your bike

wouldn't make a difference where he aimed to take it, he probably wouldn't make it to the destination anyway

Brake lock has nothing to do with brake pressure, fuck all pressure on gravel or wet roads will lock your wheels, where as the same pressure applied on a good surface would be perfectly fine.

Without a method of monitoring the actual rotation of the wheel this can't be anything other than a dangerous gimmick.

Actually looking at the traders other listings it seems as he is selling parts for small cc dirt and pit bikes, not road bikes. So maybe we are being a bit harsh.

No we're not being harsh - if these things are designed for pit bikes (and not for road use) then it should say so. There's nothing but common sense (a sadly lacking commodity) to stop some noob buying these and fitting them to a road bike. Sure they'll probably get knocked back at WOF time.........if they make it to the next one, which I sincerely doubt.
Dangerous shit like this shouldn't be allowed into the country, let alone be for sale on TardMe.

Hey calm down a bit there buddy.
What you are proposing sounds a little impossible unless the brake lines on a pit bike are the same size as big bike.
I suspect not - but feel free (anyone) to prove me wrong. Would be good to know.

The only way these things can work is by restricting the amount of pressure available at the wheel.

For them to stop a dirt bike wheel from locking while on dirt the brake system would need to be restricted to the point of barely working.

I suspect that the intended application for these things is indeed road bikes.
