    Check these merkins out.
    Q. Is there any significance to the design on the back of your shirt? Is that any kind of symbol or is it just a design?

MICHAEL CAMPBELL: Well, this is my own clothing, it's called camboclothing.com. It's an insignia in New Zealand, Kikikaha, in the back of my shirt, means inner strength, be strong.

yeah OK - what i meant was there is more skill involved in winning the US open than there is hoisting sails and there is more popular interest in golf than sailing. NZ is reasonably unique in it's interest in the latter.

Good to see another NZer at the top

    Blah

Yep I don't follow golf at all, but fantastic effort after a very difficult couple of years.

I heard Steve Williams ( I think) say "well done mate one for the boys back home".

    Brilliant

I think it was a fantastic result for Cambo and for golf in NZ. Along with Steve Williams, I'd suggest this was one of the greatest sporting victories ever by a NZ'er, and far outways anything that any multi-millionaire sponsored yachting team have ever done, regardless of what physical effort any of the crew might have had to put in.

Does it beat Susan Devoy, Rob Waddell, John Walker and all those other individuals that have achieved fame? I don't know, but it's a bloody good effort.

Yeah, just finished watching the full replay on Sky Sport 3, man, he had to hang in there, in the lead for a long time and Tiger on the charge, played some brilliant holes to pull off birdies right when he had too, great to see!!
What is it with golf where someone quite lowly ranked can dice with the leaders for so long, the overnight leader tied with Reteif Goosen, Jason Gore was ranked about 800 in the world. Incredibly these two played the last round 25 over par, recording a 81 and a 85, worst ever scores for two overnight leaders!!
Our own Craig Perks came from nowhere and won the Players Championship last year, too. Hope Cambo can string together some more good results, hes always done so well in Europe but just choked big time on the PGA.

Oh, only Dan Carter when he kicks the winning conversions against the Lions will beat Cambo for Sportsman of the Year!
