Open budget for new race boots - what is the best boot on the market?

Hey guys,

Just broke my ankle on the race bike so decided to splash out and get some really good boots so that it doesnt happen again

Who has what? and has anyone tested them out (the hard way)

I've been exploring options myself as I need an upgrade. If I could, I would be buying the top spec Alpinestars. I was shown some nice Sidis but they don't fit my fat feet well.

I had A* SMX4 good boots for fat feet like mine lasted me ages went around europe too. Then got some elcheapo tecknic chicanes shit boots only lasted a year. I now lust after some A* SMX plus, mmnnn waterproofish

I don't race (... or crash) but have SIDI Vertigo Corsa which I picked up cheap 2nd hand (TM).

They are pretty damn comfy for a race boot and the calf and bridge adjuster’s work really well. The Vertigo Corsa has been replaced by the Vortice. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...vortice-boots/

I've done a track day in my TCX S-race's and also commute in them daily (I have relatively wide feet and a high bridge). They're relatively cheap for what is a good boot in my opinion (looks like $299 is buying you the top of the line TCX's!).

Pros:
-Mine are white and look flash as bro!
-Ankle protection system feels very safe and solid/snug when fastened
-Solid zips and lots of velcro adjustability (good for my chicken legs)
-Well vented
-Seemingly well made
-Good to commute on as no fastening/racheting system

Cons:
-Might right little toe gets a bit numb if I don't stand on pegs right (right foot might be diff to my left hence it only happening on the right little toe)
-No cable fastening/racheting system (I don't know if they're more effective???)

Yea I bought TCX boots also. The Competizione S GTX model. Supposed to be better than S-Race model, so I was told.

I got them for $400, on sale from $600.

And as with most of the racing TCX boots you get the torsion control system to stop your feet getting put into extra awkward positions. Almost waterproof even though that's not what they're made for, and provides a good amount of venting.

I've crashed in my Gaerne grw boots and didn't even feel the impact.
Only time the toe sliders have ever touched the ground.

Were $350 from memoary and are fully waterproof.
