this seems like its a dumb problem, the fuel cap is stuck on my Hyosung.. the key turns. but its not lifting.. any sugestions? Should I pry it? or is there a gentler soultion? basicly would rather not break things unless I have to.

Maybe a graphite lubricant or even WD40 might help. And have you tried jiggling the cap or pushing the cap down as you turn the key? I hear the hyobag locks are not the best. Another person says to cover the cap with a cloth and whack it with a rubber mallet, then stick the key in and try again. Good luck![]()
Maybe try pressing down on the cap before turning the key, then release it once you've turned the key.
Try not to break the key - easy to do...![]()
Yes made in Korea. Hyosung was the motor r&d company for Suzuki![]()
Before you do anything stupid, STOP!
It's hammer time.
If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.
If the key is turning like normal, perhaps you have a blocked breather/tip-over valve and therefore suction is holding the cap closed. Common on my triple, but routine maintenance takes care of the issue. If that is the case, it may require some effort, but it will open.
If it sucks in air when you do get it open, you'll know you have to find the issue.
Nunquam Non Paratus
Loosen off the hex head bolts and it should open fine. Re align it then off to the service station you go.
I had the same thing on a 2002 VFR800 a few years back
.... back in green and feeling great ....
slide an eftpos card down between the cap and the tank. it should break the seal and allow it to pop off. happens on aeroplane caps all the time
Well, it looks like its not just a simple stuck lock, now I get to pull the thing off.. Well, time to learn how that works! I hear it's interesting.
Well, fixed it, more by luck than anything I believe.. in other news I now have a spare cap for a hyosung.. so if anyone needs one - give me a bell.
Best you mention what you did, so anyone searching can find an answer straight away

See the problem was clearly an excess of dry sperm around the filler cap acting like glue - next time you feel attracted to your bike try banging the muffler outlet (you may need a aftermarket pipe if the Hobag has a small outlet). I recommend running the bike for 30 seconds or so before 'servicing ' the muffler as it will be nice and warm then.
I am blessed with my Hornet as it has dual underseat mufflers - it is like having a set of twins at your disposal.
pictures soon .......
