    Neighbour's noise complaint?

Hi guys, iv'e just been out riding around my lifestyle block out Muriwai only to stop and see some neighbours that we have never met before come and complain to my parents about the noise from the motorbikes. they were saying that they were going to be making a complaint to the council about us,but i can't see what there problem is as we have only ridden on our place about 4 times this year and only ever for about an hour at a time. The neighbours arn't even ones on our boundry they would live at least 500 meters away.

I am just wondering what i should do to resolve this with them and also what rights i have in reguards to it all with noise control.

Could always try and negotiate a time when it's ok with them. If they're listening to you fanging around with no idea of when it'll end it could get annoying for them, but if you say 'I'm gonna be riding between X and X is that ok?' they might be fine with it.

IF, noise control turn up they have to measure the noise as its happening, they dont go on hearsay. if its over (what ever the level is?) for some considerable time they issue a warning notice at first.
Is the bike loud. not by bike standards but by local machinery standards? if not they dont really have a leg to stand on.
Maybe you could try talking to them but the modern way to resolve problems is to curtain twitch and get someone else to do it for them so tread lightly.

MX track on the boundary fence would also work well, with floodlights so you can race in the dark, mandatory two stroke presence.

That is what i was thinking, to specify a certain time that i would be riding, but my parents don't think that we should just give in to them as we have lived here for 18 years and only riden for 6 years without a complaint and then these people have moved in 9 months ago and are complaining to us, we have spoken to other neighbours who are closer to our property and they don't seem fussed by it at all as we only ride for an hour at a time.

Also our bikes arn't very loud i have a stock yzf250 and my brother has a stock crf250x and there is a fair bit of trees between our property and theirs so surely that would muffle the sound a bit?

Eh, as for your parents, it's up to whether they care more about getting on with your neighbor or 'being right'.

we have that on one boundry were we have a 150 meter straight, but that neighbour has never complained to us about the bikes even though she doesn't like us

Mum even suggested that we put floodlights in so we can at any time, lol

parents arn't too fussed with getting on with the neighbours especially ones that have never said hello to us before, and first thing they say to us is the bikes are too loud, but i would rather get on with the neighbours as i don't want them to get any other support from the other neighbours and get us in trouble as there are other tracks close by that have already been in trouble with the council from horse owners complaining.

DONT get me started on wankstain horse owners, had some foreigners move in down the road from the workshop (which has been there for 40 years) with in 2 months they were complaining bout the noise from the workshop and the trucks engine breaking on the road scaring his horses,

might pay to check with your local council to see what the rules are in your area, i know the old franklin council had some funny rules which made it hard to have your own track,

    +1!!
Don't be dictated to by intolerant fuck knuckles.

Sure, you must be 'reasonable' in what noise you may create and for how long, but people like your darling new neighbours never consider that, just themselves. It is your duty as part of a vibrant community to tell them to get fucked.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

this was the problem with a track up the road that held events and then the complaints started to come in so the council started to crack down on them so they are limited to when they can ride which i don't want because i couldn't handle other people dictating when im allowed to ride.
