Tell them they can't have their cow and eat it too.

Thank you, I'm here all night. Try the veal.

I spoke to the council today and they just laughed at the idea, they said that they don't have a leg to stand on as long as it is on our property then we can do what we like, they also said that noise control would struggle to do anything as they have to get a reading that exceeds the noise level for a certain amount of time and that motorbike struggle to do that as they are not always at full noise, so i think it would be sweet to continue doing what i am doing and not worry about those neighbours, if it upsets them to much then they could always move, that wouldn't worry me at all
Where in Muriwai? I'm in the Muriwai Valley lifestyle block area, and I hear a couple of trailbikes occasionally not too distant. Admittedly, it can be annoying if you're enjoying the tranquility BUT i don't bleat because...it is the boondocks ffs and my stereo on full tit is WAY louder : ) . As an aside , MY neighbour moaned to me about that same trailbike noise, I wonder if it's him lol !

yeah im in Muriwai Valley, i dout it would be us that make all the noise as there are people in the area that ride constantly which i could understand if people complained about them, but we barely ever ride, but where we are it may echo through the whole valley

Why the hell are your trucks engine braking in a built up area FFS?

Presumably because they're "foreign" they've got less rights than "proper" Kiwis?

Don't get me started on wankstain truck owners. Had some leave ripples on the tarmac and piss diesel all over some corners, etc etc
Dont get me started on farmers. How they think a piece of electric tape will stop a herd of cows is beyond me. Had a mate hospitalised and their car written off from hitting one....etc

Not true. They can leave a sound monitor in place, this will record repeated short or high pitched noises. How do you think noisy dogs or shouting drunk scumbag neighbours get dealt with? That aside, you've done the sensible thing and spoken to them and your other neighbors. No point in deliberately antagonizing them though....they might do something you find equally annoying. Dirt bikes can be fuggin annoying when you're sat trying to work, sleep, knob the missus etc so might pay to try and work with them a little. Just make it clear YOU WILL NOT STOP RIDING full stop.

Much like the wowsers around Western Springs complainig about speedway and concert noises, fark me the springs was there in the 50's or earlier.

Neighbour used to ride his motox bike around their land years ago,he would stop say 8ish in daylight savings,we didn't mind as we got to ride hehe, but we got on well with neighbours, other new neighbours and sections sold was fun though.

I had problems with a neighbour a long time ago when my old band had a practice in my parents garage. Admittedly we were a thrash metal band, so not the most peaceful accompaniment to a lazy Saturday afternoon on the deck for said neighbour, but as he began negotiations by beating a nice sized dent in the garage door with a golf club, he ended up with his own version of the ballbag suggestion, once we'd also got similar council advice.
If you were my neighbor there would have been a shooting

Not cockheads, it was currymunchers and lesbians (ugly ones like the Top Twins so don't get excited) and the council listened to them!

When an office building was planned near Mt Wellington Kart Track the developers were told about the track and to add sound suppressing material and no windows on that side of the building, which they did not do. A couple of years later there were complaints from that very building and the fucking council threw a shit fit at the track! It caused all sorts of trouble for the club and cost a lot of cash to defend it, noise testing etc.

the owner of mitre 10 mega tried to get the cemetary circuit shut down due to it "hurting his business". in his old building, he was well away from the track, but where they are now, one entrance is inaccessible. he only moved there a few years ago, whereas the circuit has been there for over 50 years. [closer to 60 now i think]

OP, maybe get some friends over for a paintball party? i dont think they have the same license restrictions as proper guns, but make just as much noise and leave a bigger mess. then, if they come over complaining, you can shoot them.

There is often a lot more to these stories than people let on. I'm not saying it is the case here but some questions need to be asked.

Was the kart track complying with any relevant noise rule already in place ? If so, no problem.
Was resource consent required for the office building ? If so, did the kart track oppose consent for the office building on the basis of reverse sensitivity ?
Has the nature, scale or intensity of the use of the track increased ?
