Hyosung parts

i was pricing up parts for a hyosung 125. hyosung nz is charging $131 for a piston plus $63 for the rings, $19 for a piston pin and circlip. i had a look overseas and found this site www.hyosungsource.com. $54.03 for a piston including rings, $11.75 for the piston pin and circlip. i know that hyosung nz need to have a bit of mark up but that is extreme. of course i havent taken in freight in the prices.

I priced a chain guard for a GV250, none in stock, quoted 90 something dollars and three months wait.

Local importer - $30.00, free freight, 10 working days delivery.

Hyosung NZ need to get their act together - that is appalling service.

Then again, the new bike is to be bought early next year - NOT a Hyosung, and while it has been a good bike, albeit cheap build and not likely to get beyond 50k's, I will never recommend Hyosung on the basis of their poor service, as this is not the first time they have disappointed me.

Bull shit, there is a guy on here that's gone around the clock on his GT250. I clocked 30 or 40ks on mine before I sold it and that was in 08, so one would imagine their quality has improved.

Only issue I had was the side stand kill switch which I disengaged and a hole in the exhaust.

May be I am being a bit harsh.

Really - around the clock - that's impressive.

BTW - Avoid http://www.hyosungparts.co.nz/ - they don't deliver and are friggin hard to get hold of!

My partner bought a Hyosung GV 650 last Thursday.
By the way, we rode back from Auckland to the Wairarapa and she loves it. Good handling and good torque delivery.

The unfortunate part of this story is while we were out for a ride on Sunday, a couple of oldies thought they would just step out on a pedestrian crossing.
My partner whacked the brakes on and the twin disc set up on her bike locked the front wheel... spit-off time.

Got the bike home and because we live in a rural village, I hopped online to order parts.

What came up? An attractive & professional looking website 'Hyosung NZ' , promising next day service, based in Auckland.
The PayPal clearing address now appears to be 'Woochang Bldgs' somewhere in Singapore.
No phone number for the so-called Auckland distribution centre.

As I've sent off around $1200 to these people, I'm getting a sinking feeling...... Has anyone had anything to do with this lot, or are they a scam and need to be reported to Netsafe and the Commerce Commission to be shut down?

Am i likely to see the parts?

Haven't used them, so can't directly comment on their reliability. I would expect that at least some of your parts will need to be shipped from overseas, so expect the entire batch to come from the same source, i.e. probably Korea.

So, have you received a tracking number? If so, have you checked its status on their website or the shipping company's website?

If you haven't received a tracking number, get in touch with the company. That's probably via email or their contact form. Use proper email and cc yourself, rather than their contact form. That way you have some evidence that you have tried to contact & resolve the problem. If you get a tracking number or similar, give them a couple of days to handle things. If you don't get anything from emailing after a reasonable time, next actions would depend on how you paid. PayPal account = go to PayPal's resolution centre, open an item not received dispute. If they just processed your credit card, look up PayPal's help system and/or contact your bank, as I'm not sure.

(Edit) Their website has no phone number & no company registration number, so that doesn't inspire confidence. I'm not keen on their tracking form on the website either - looks like it has been pasted there to give the impression of tracking, rather than doing it.

For future reference: you can check if a company is NZ registered on the Companies website: Companys Office NZ Search Page Thingy

Worth a look before using an unknown that might be based somewhere else.

From the many, many, many, many times I had to rebuild, fix, and replace parts on my old Hooflung, I got all my bits and bobs from http://hyosungparts.asia/

That being said I'm in Australia and don't know if they ship off shore.. I assume they would.

All their parts come direct from S&T (parent company) so they are all OEM, factory parts just with S&T written on them instead of Hyosung.

For example, when I had to replace the fuel tank, my local Hooflung dealer quoted me $1,200 to get in the tank I needed but for $400 I had a brand new one delivered to my door with "S&T" on the tank. The stickers weren't clear coated over so I could just peel them off. A set of "Hyosung" tank decals cost me, at the time, $2.50 from the same site. Job done.

And on the frequented topic of Hooflung reliability.. Eh, it's a total lucky dip. I know some people who thrash theirs to within an inch of their lives with minimal servicing and they just won't stop, on the other hand I know some who look after them meticulously and they're constantly broken. I consider Hyo's to be the modern equivalent of old Italian bikes.. Sometimes you'll get a pearl, sometimes a lemon. Complete luck of the draw!
