apples have a great interface but alas they cost too much to repair and software is hard to come by (even hacked copies)

For around $800 you can buy a new 2.4 gig machine from most computer parts stores with screen and all (you can build your own for $600)

Do not go to appliance stores, you'll pay $3000 for the same thing.

You need a new key board... your "caps lock" is jammed

For your dollar spent Mac's and PC's are about the same cost/power/software. You can spend more, you can spend less. Cheap PC's have video on the mainboard, Mac's have a separate video card which *generally* makes the video faster - AT THAT DOLLAR VALUE. And on it goes.

It's like saying Mazdas are cheaper than Ferraris. There is no comparing them like that.
I seem to have hit nerve. You were the one quoting $5-6000.
Personally, I didn't think they were that much. Keep smiling & more importantly keep riding, bro

Ever notice that anyone slower than you is an idiot, but anyone going faster is a maniac?

Okay the most important thing before you go any further. Does you current camera have MacOSX drivers.

Check your camera manual for anything that mentions MacOSX, or try out your camera on someone elses Mac.

I JUST USED THE USB CABLE THAT CAME WITH THE CAMERA AND THE COMPUTER SORTED ITSELF OUT , I DONT KNOW HOW, BUT IT DOES SHOW UP AS A DRIVE IN THE LIST OF COMPUTER ICONS.
THE THING THAT WORRYS ME ABOUT THE MAC IS FINDING THINGS LIKE MODEM ADJUSTMENTS , AND WHERE TO FIND PICS . MY PC IS OK BUT IM SICK OF IT CRASHING , PICKING UP VIRUSES , STUPID THINGS LIKE THE MOUSE NOT WORKING OR THE MODEM NOT DIALING OUT CAUSE IT SAYS NO MODEM IS FITTED.
MY PC IS A LAPTOP COMPAQ I BOUGHT IT NEW AND 1 WEEK OUTA WARRANTY IT NEEDED A NEW MOTHER BOARD IT COST $600 TO REPAIAR USING A EXCHANGE SECOND HAND PART,
AND MY OTHER PC IS FUCKED CAUSE I DELETED PART OF THE WINDOWS PROGRAM BY ACCIDENT, WHY SHOULD A PROGRAM LET YOU DELETE CRITICAL PARTS?
WHY ARE PC SO PRONE TO VIRUSES FUCKEN MICROSOFT SELLING A WINDOWS PROGRAM WITHOUT PROTECTION BUILT IN IS LIKE SELLING A CAR WITHOUT BASIC SECURITY LIKE A KEY ETC

with Skunk on that, iPhoto has virtually every main and small brand camera. And in the remote chance it doesn't, Image Capture app reads everything anyway. So no need for drivers... Just plug the camera in and without touching anything, it all fires into life.. gotta love apple

WINJA, things like settings and modem stuff are all only a few clicks from the desktop. It's really easy. And if you aren't sure, the help and finder/search tools are bloody good..

Apple's website has tons of support stuff too. Ironic thing is, you have to be online to trouble shoot modem problems!!! But once it's set, it's never a prob

Well I'm a Mac man now. (6 months)
It's interesting to find where they hide some stuff and they are given
some different names at times. You do get use to it real quick.
But it's all good and I will not be going back to a PC now.
It's very clean system to use, but as I was warned.
Stop thinking that you are using a P.C (Micro Soft type computer).
You do things slightly differently at times.

I wish that we were not talked out of getting a Mac, 3 years ago.
I have seen the light and it's in the shape of an Apple.

go to a mac shop, like Magnum Mac (In Newton Rd if you're in auckland). Yeah, ok, so they're jumped up sales peeps trying to sell you something, but I find they actually do try to help without too much pressure. And they know macs. And they have heaps of advice (as shops do), and have second hand macs that are cheaper if new isn't your thing. And there's still cheap ones to be had on TM..
