    Erm...no
From memory the MSL was set up by the first (and hopefully only) Key government...yes, I'm sure that's right.

Unfortunately, yes on all counts. I do have, however, with witnesses present (StoneY and Fat Maxx), the personal assurance from Phil Goff that if he becomes Prime Minister the ACC levy increases are gone by lunchtime.

But do any of us trust politicians any more? I don't.

    12 mth Rego for a < 60cc scooter = $403.14
    12 mth Rego for > 5700cc car = $287.87

Something just doesn't seem to add up, but then again.....

I hope the young lass wearing a mini skirt, jandals & t-shirt weaving all over the road on her scooter whilst in wellytown CBD rush hour made it home alright last night.

It wil be interesting to see if scooter use drops off due to the cost of the new regos.

Yes, I too had that personal assurance from Mr Goff, have since attempted to have him repeat it, without success.
Couple of us set up a meeting recently with Darren Hughes and put the same question to him, again no success.
The opposition have, at the moment, reneged on that promise. The NZ Riders Are Voters campaign looks like our best bet at reminding those who seek power that such promises have been made. That many many thousands of bikers, and their families, and their friends, expect this particular promise to be kept.
NZRAV may also be able to soften the next blow if the Nat coalition is returned and remind them that we will not go away, nor will this issue.
Despite what many say, it aint over, and some will continue to fight the ridiculous and unwarranted levy hikes.

Er, let me think..... no! Don't get me wrong I am sure some are there because they really think they can do some good, sadly some are there for the perks and the power. Same everywhere, they rate alongside Car Dealers and Traffic Wardens in popularity...

I think also a lot of the trouble is not the Politicians as much as the senior people in the Civil Service that advise them, too many "Sir Humphrey's" do not like bikes, bikers or the tags and images that go with them... Some of that is Media inspired hype but some is down to the guys riding

The only extra cost is the time for the person at the postshop or agency who probably gets a percentage anyway, hence the extra admin fee for less than annual relicence.
The multiple transactions via GL will be picked up via reference number in a pivot table and reconciled by one journal per month. It does not matter whether there is one (or none) transaction or 3 million, it is the same effort.
At the end of the day the only time that is wasted is your own.
are you serious....if every one did their bikes three monthly instead of annually the total number of transactions for motorcycle registrations will be three times as many per annum. That must make a difference to counter staff.

That's exactly what he said. ACC would hardly notice as it would be all automated at their end. Front counter staff work for VINZ/PostShop etc

Mopeds are still a lower price @ around 173 pa. Interesting that a quick glance at their licensing page would have you believe they are hugely expensive though, yet more discouragement of those who wish to ride?

As to the OP, I don't think it's really causing much cost to ACC, tbh the 24 probably covers it, 3 extra labels and an extra 10mins of staff time, rest is all computerised I would imagine.
