Ruptured an eardrum and did in the crystals behind the inner ear in the last one, plus they think my tinnitus was caused by a previous head injury not hearing damage. I did a hearing test last year and my hearing is perfect except for a tiny mid-range drop, which is amazing considering years in bands, playing drums, and riding bikes.

Yup, the sound in the first vid is very close to what I have all the time only at a low background level. I find it easier to get to sleep with background noise. Still nights are murder.Bugger,so it must be like having one of those things in your head 24/7?

My house is on the edge of a gully. The bedroom I inhabit is on the gully side and is one floor above ground level. I leave the balcony door open all summer to stop the place melting down in the heat.
So I wake up every morning to the cicada chorus. Loud as hell. Especially this year. There must be ten gazillion of the little buggers down there. But I love 'em. Waking to that is a pleasure for me.
Mind you, one potential buyer of my house said she wouldn't buy it because there were "too many cicadas"... Stupid cow. I told the agent to tell her to fuck off then...

Their is a stand of old pine trees just down the road from my house which are always chocka with the little critters. This year has been exceptional to the point where the dog will not walk past. Since the monsoon it is a lot quieter. To warm for troutys up here but I bet the snapper in the bay have taken advantage.

Fella at Full Throttle in Puke told me his forecourt was covered in crickets this morning- he'd vacuumed up 2 full loads from inside his premises as well... Loads of the fekkers round here as well.
Just been the long way round () for some baccie as well, and there were loads of bugs clattering into me lid- time to get the scraper out!
