    Loose wire on ignition coil

I have a loose wire on my ignition coil that runs into the capacitor mounted on the side (Pics for your viewing pleasure below)

What would be the easiest way to fix this? I'm not an electrical buff but I can do pretty much anything given detailed instructions and enough time.

Would I be able to buy a new capacitor and mount that or am I up for combing a wreckers to find a new coil?

if you had access you could solder it on
or looking at that maybe use a small screw to get contact inside and attach to the screw?

So I'd strip back the wire and then shove it in and use the small screw to hold it in place?

or screw the screw into the the capacitor and solder the wire onto the screw
if you put a bit of heat shrink over the wire first you can put it over the exposed wire when you all finished

The small screw has worked. I'll hit up a sparky tomorrow and see if they can tell me the rating on the capacitor.

I'd get a new cap - cheap and a guaranteed fix. The problem with the screw method is that you don't know if you are screwing into a terminal inside that metal casing or into the cap material itself or what.

The cap is not critical - typically 0.2 to 0.3uF. There are some on tardme going for $10. HTH

I was a the screw I used didn't even touch the sides. When I put the wire in and then pushed the screw in it was more like a plug rather than a screw. Will get me into town though to a sparky to get it all checked out.

Good stuff - the kiwi no 8 wire mentality is a good thing! I just meant for a long term fix, get a new cap, given the price :-) you might even get a better running bike out of it, caps DO age, and if it has been on the bike long enough for the wire to vibrate loose it must be pretty old!
