    TT and ME no more

    I AM A HAS BEEN

Hi all, this deision has taken a very very long time to come too, and I am now comfortable with it, but is Now 100% DEFFINATE.

I will NOT be racing the TT any more, I am alive and have the 2 most amazing girls on earth in my life, and I want them to stay happy and safe with me for as long as I stay alive.

If I did not have these 2 girls, I would be there stretching the cables big time.

I have just gotten off the phone to my main man in the UK Kevin Stevens and told him my decission, and like a true friend/Brother, he is Totally behind my decission.

I love that place and the challenge it offers, but it is time for this Old man to move on and find another drug, I WILL still race motorcycles, but at a much less serious level, FUN ONLY from now on.

I will be doing the Manx GP to say good bye to the track, when? Not sure, maybe even this year?

I will be in the UK come TT Time this year, so I will be at the TT, whether some one employs me to work with there team/Riders head I am not sure at this stage, but I will be there in any way.

Way to many people to say thank you to, and I would Hate to forgett some ones name if I attempted that, so to all that have helped in any way over the years that I have been there, HUGE THANKYOU

You all have helped make a better man out of me than I could have done on my own.

Stay safe and be happy team.

Why feel the need to explain the reasons, you've been there kicked arse,no explanations needed.Life is for living, kids are for enjoying,if you're happy to retire who the fuck cares, your life your choice.

Much easier to do what you are doing retire now than find a RIP thread dedicated to you, which was nearly.

No NEED to explain mate, just a desire to let a few people out there know what my decision was based on, I've had Huge amounts of emails and letters since my accident, and this place supported MY FAMILY ALSO, so ARE a part of my TEAM

Mum of two, and I get thinking why I do it...(just ride) but when you make the decision to put your children first when its such a seriously dangerous risk your taking, then good on you Shaun for sharing, and putting your family first.

    I'm suffering deja vu.

Are you going to say this every year from now on Shaun or are you really serious this time

Either way, good on ya mate. Teach those mad skills to some 18 year old maybe...
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

As an often awed road racing spectator I have no idea what you have that allowed you to race with such commitment at the TT but your decision & reasons for it rule out one possibility, insanity.

All the best to you & your family & excuse me for butting into your thread.

Ahh a tough call mate for sure,

Come and join us in the 'in it for shits and giggles' brigade, there is a lot of us in this club.

I know what you mean regarding the love of competition but now 'finally' you have made the decision mate you will still enjoy your racing but at a completely different level.

Remember the conversation we had about how I dealt with the 'off' last year and the kids in the pits post 'off', Its all about what's important mate and you seem to be in that same space now.

Keep the faith and keep the passion, its all for the fun of it now buddy, enjoy.

    Shaun,
I think you should be proud of what you have achieved, more than a lot of others ever will when it comes to the IOM.
To be honest I think you have a lot more to offer others, in racing advise and the like.
