    PC bullshit overload

People not standing up for their rights
    Maori "rights" overload
    Etc etc

What are your thoughts about it all. I personally think Helen Clarke is to blame for most of it but that's just me.
How old are you. Check back a couple of decades or so, see how todays NZ came about.
I'm no apologist for Labour, but National were in power for most of that period.
You get the Government you deserve!

He's 14 & doesn't like a lot of what he sees & hears. He does not hold with the namby-pamby PC crap, and he hates injustice (what he sees there is, of course, the pendulum at this end of it's swing). Not a political kid, but you can't blame him for seeing HC the way he does, what with all the pandering to certain causes & the social engineering 'experiments'. Also at the cusp of NCEA & is that a can of worms or what?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

More wise words. As you and Wayne say, we are merely 'renting' the place from one generation to the next & it worries me as to what we are leaving our kids to deal with. Perhaps we are seeing this generation becoming really aware of 'the issues' in a meaningful way as opposed to, say, the Hippy generation or the anti-fur lobby etc?

It's good that he's concerned enough to post the thread. But the danger lies in believing that it's the fault of one party. Somehow we have been blessed with the most 'do nothing' pollies on earth. Unless it's a senior Ministers pet project of course.

Now just remind me, who was the Minister of Education and which government was in power when the NCEA monstrosity was spawned?

Hey! Did I say National were the shizz? System is still effectively 2 parties, plus others to muddy the waters, and they've all got their own agendas & ideas of what is right for the rest of us. Someone said that 'we get the government that we deserve' - well, excuse me, but what's the alternative to the big 2? Winston? Hyde? Anderton? Don't make me laugh!!
I'm proud of my lad for having the balls to say what he thinks, and for the lofty age of 14, he has a lot of sensible things to say.

I'm not particularly impressed with any of the parties on the stump at the moment. Fact is, none of them will give me what I really want, so I vote for the one that gives me the least of what I don't want. A very sad way to make a decision, but out of the options available??

I reckon I'm a part of the most discriminated against "group" in NZ society today - I'm white, my partner and I earn way way WAY into the "rich" category for household income, we own our own home, my child goes to a private school, I am male. There is no Ministry of European Descent Affairs. There is no Ministry of Men's Affairs. There is no Ministry for the Socially Developed. There is little or no funding from the Ministry of Education for my daughters schooling. There is little or no funding to my GP when I visit them due to said ethnicity and income level.

What the hell does this society offer me? I work hard so I can support my family AND ride fast, and I get taxed more of my income, get taxed more in road users charges (of whatever description - petrol, rego) and then I get taxed again by the cops for speeding. And because I'm so filthy rich, I don't get the opportunity to rack up huge fines only to have them waived later on because I've accumulated too many.

Anyway - what Minister of Education came up wth this piece of garbage?? None of them - behind-the-scenes public 'serpents' dictating their agenda to the governement of the day, that's who. And aint none of us voted them in.

Country sure is in a bad way.

Perhaps we can delve back into history and take some lessons from Signor Mussolini and Herr Hitler as to how to set things aright...
