    More background...

Hmmm - I got those responses to the survey too. I can't remeber the standard choices in the original survey - but methinks that the university is trying to display a sense of humour in publishing these ones...

The bit before what you posted said:
The majority of the comments in the ?other? section of this question were positive. The reputation of the lecturer and the course were commonly cited as important. Some of the other factors suggested were:
BTW for a gender bias on the flip side of engineering, try Law - typically 60-75% ish female students make the cut. Make of that what you will...

I'm sure there are other fields more extremely biased this direction out there. Are there any male students in Women's studies papers?

A blokespace? You've got the entire engineering school and Shadows. What more could you want?
We're all fucked. I'm fucked. You're fucked. The whole department is fucked. It's the biggest cock-up ever. We're all completely fucked.

This is taken from a real email, I've got the full email if anyone is interested, however anyone else here at Auckland Uni also has it.

► ‘A chance to be exposed to other disciplines within
    the university.’

    ► ‘Gorgeous girls.’

► ‘Campus the course is offered on.’

    ► ‘Travel purposes.’

    ► ‘Fun.’

It's good to know that the Uni is taking factor number 2 seriously.
Otago Uni had a similar point with their "Get over it" campaign i.e There were more gals that guys on campus. Seems that way at Massey here in Wellington too.

As far as I know there are a few - the lecture this semester before my thursday mechanics lecture which was womens studies, and included maybe 5% guys.
