On the subject of GPS - and not this thread - have any of you guys tried geocaching, seems to be made for adv biking and gps farkles...

I've found 38 since signing up in 2003
Back then there were about 30 caches in the whole top of the south.
Now there are well over 300 in the Nelson area alone.

You slacker Nordie, team TransalperNZ (J and I) just uncovered our 450th (haven't logged Sundays 5 yet). Actually 2 of the earlier finds were with cooneyr.

I'm pretty keen as I had been toying with an idea similar to the 2 man (great concept - 2 riders, wish I'd have thought of it!).
I was thinking of it being run as a route card / time card, rally/enduro rally sort of thing locally here.

Hand helds still best for geocaching. Legend HCX was ok but any with a magnetic compass are better and currently gone paperless with the map62s.
Paperless rocks, much better than carting paper or special phones/laptops etc around as well as the gps to keep the cache info on. Map62s holds all the needed info. The Dekotas and colorados do paperless too. Garmin all the way for me so far.
