I must be getting less sensitive - takes 4.0 or better to wake me now - or just more tired...

I see the media are picking up on the Selwyn council not communicating - some questions being asked now. If Waimak can aim at 600 house inspections per day but Selwyn have done seven inspections only it says something....Fed Farmers seem to be doing what the Council should - big meeting/pissup/question time in Darfield Thurs night - even got Brewery support. Why couldn't the SDC do this ?
Big step up/off local bridge poorly posted - just men at work sign - viisited by MNZ steward yesterday who didn't pick the 8 inch step on the bridge and was lucky not to have square wheels on his BMW...LOL

We were back in yesterday but some staff aren't happy with the buildings and after doing our own inspections we're getting then checked again

The only one that woke me last night was the 4.5 at 4am

That last one was a big one

but I'm kind of over them now - when it hit it was "bloody hell, not another fricking earthquake".

There appears the be a correlation between my showering and large aftershocks. In the interest of saftey, I might have to start going to work stinking

You're alright, correlation does not imply causation...

Yeah it's getting very unnerving now. I've got my two girls staying with me currently, they're are doing well but you can see the fear in my 4yr old's eyes.

That 5.1 at 7.49am was a bit strange - located under Heathcote/Woolston. Hope this isn't a sign of more under the city cause they will hurt more even if lower magnitude.

On the 6th story of a 7 story building on Victoria street. Feels like I had one to many or I'm on a ship. Just gently sways around.

I've got to work this week but if anybody (city or rural) wants a hand over the weekend let me know. Our place is fine. Got tools (sledgy, chainsaw, shovel, etc), will travel. I grew up on farm so more than happy to do some hard labour rather than just driving a PC.

Actually feel a bit guilty cause we might as well have been in the other island given how little damage we had.

We're flying my partner's 9 year old to stay with her grandmother in Nelson. She's completely over earthquakes and is starting to get very nervous.

....yeah unnerving now that the big clean up has been done round here and the relatively lighter damage the area took is being sorted....time to think.... and freak out about the grandkids and family in the city...they keep reporting in but it doesn't stop the knot in my guts getting bigger...

You're not alone with this thought, lady I work with has her extended family coming up, they're all so frightened, tired and going slightly mental. I have spare room if anyone wants to escape.

    Me to.
I am stuffed went home to check after the last big one to check pets and home as we had no power at work.
To find my chimney loose at the base.
Had checked last night as well and was OK, so pulled it down and patched up the roof.
As I brought some tiles last night to make sure I had some if they were needed.
It was in the middle of the house so if it fell, I would have a big hole though the roof.
Funny thing was I warned the neighbour as there's was looking bad now as well.
So he did the same and a guy next to him was doing the same.
Four chimneys were taken down this morning.

Do not need a open fire ban, just a earth quake.

So check yours as they seem to be doing most of the damage.
Feel the fear and do it anyway
