    Kaiapoi's Mystery Photo taker?

Hi, today in Kaiapoi while we student army was doing our job, one aged gentleman was walking around taking photos for us. He later posted them on Flickr for us to share.
    Here is his link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/3244458...7624796702211/
    (Named Diarmuid Toman)

As I'd like to send him an email (gift if possible) to show my gratitude and on behalf, I can not find his E-mail address anywhere. So I was wondering if anyone from here knew.

He has a contact of Damien_Toman (Flickr ID) whom seems to race bucket bikes. Can anyone here give me any information? Please PM me for I do not want to miss the good Samaritan.

    Thanks in advance,

    EJ

Well, this is what anoys me, yeah that last photo dosnt look hopefull... but im getting the vib after seeing the famous grouse in lincoln being demoed that a lot of unnesary destruction is being done. How come the demo is so fast, fence off and move on, no for some reason the evidance is being destroyed along with great buildings.

Have'in seen 1st hand the damage to twin skined red brick buildings I Know they are a acco waiting to happen... but there are ways around it like quake strethening, yip the average owner cant aford to do that so I feel the councils are choosing to remove any further issues and cover thier arses should they say alls ok and shit goes down.

I'd say it is the one, the fault heads that way and that sort of damage when the other half of the house is in tact tells me it fell down a hole.

I'm hearing this a fair bit. I was talking to one of the crews a day or two ago - the inspectors have 100% authority in town to decide what stays.

I suspect, and it is purely a theory, that there is so much damage about that if they were attempting to try and retain or rebuild/restore the buildings it would be a decade before the city was back to 'normal' - there is simply not the capacity to attempt a restoration job this size.

The lincoln pub was reduced to a pile of rubble today, and I see the Tai Tapu pub is taped off.

The whole assessment thing is getting a bit strange away from the city. Hororata pub was assessed & condemned within 10hrs of the quake...but the local shop/garage has had literally hundreds of people through since and has major forecourt damage, foundation damage and a workshop that the owner is frankly hoping wll be written off...hasn't yet been looked at !!!

Mayor Coe showed his face here on Thursday - going round the district so he could look virtuous at Tursday night's meeting at Darfield.. so The garage owner & I got stuck into him about asessors....he's media shy waste of space and will go at the next elections...
Federated Farmers have a ranking list of councils - Selwyn is bottom nationally. Explains why most of the relief effort and PR out here is coming from Fed Farmers....

Tried to speak to Historic Places about possible help/guidance if needed for our place but they are absolutely snowed under - the councils are not meeting resistance to condemming historic buildings because they can't be everywhere. The Selwyn council has always had a policy of covering it's own arse first so it's condemn to be on the safe side...

The garage should be written off anyhow, it's a prime example of hick redneck operation & unsafe practice...plus they're rip-off merchants

    Least you've seen the mayor
You saw that chick that was here on behalf of the council the other day...that's the only officaldom we've seen...I'm even a bit dubious about that too as there wasn't any insignia of who she represented.
Fed Farmers are just looking after their own had their rep turn up here Tues wanting donations fark-off we had our own problems to deal with.
They're just ass kissers for the nats anyhow so stuff them

That is a concern but there's supposed to be something being designed at the moment to fast track the process hopefully from the powers that be

Was sitting at the lights this morning, thinking that I must be going crazy through paranoia, as the car was swaying at the lights... but yeah sure enough, 4.2 @ 5km

Was very minor, just a gentle sway. It's pretty much the same here, most I don't even feel now except for an odd feeling now and then. It's only the sharp ones that make themselves known.

No worries, we are quite happy to send it all your way!

You'll have to thank your Kaiapoi cousins for taking one up the rear.

It is a funny old thing this quake - zero damage in some areas, total in others. The boffins will be studying it for years to come.

It is weird having a shake in the car - it just wobbles on it's suspenders, I'm thinking of ordering a few hundred Ohlins units and setting the house up on them.
