This website is a good one. It was made by a student from Canterbury University.

The size of the circle relates to the magnitude, the colour is the depth. It shows very well the hammering we’ve taken.

Me thinks it may have something to do with giving the kids a place they can start to feel safe again and enable them to heal emotionally. Trust me, they know what frightens them and it isn't the adults. This isn't something like going to the dentist, where you can shadow over the bad bits to make it sound good, this is real.
You and i may know they are now safe.....but they don't!

Ohh I know and agree, but like with OAB's girl its our job as hard as fark as it is to teach them not to be 'so' frightened. more chance of injury driving across town... BUT...
If I was in a old doubled skined brick shack or near a river Id be shitting me dacks to dont worry.

Animals have some strange reactions - I've mentioned the old Birman of ours who was lined up waiting for breakfast as we went out the door...
The dogs are holding up well - the stud boy is being staunch for his girls who are both a bit clingy but he wants reassurance too.
A friend we work in with breeding says one of her bitches thinks the aftershocks are laid on for her entertainment - gets on the bed & jumps up & down barking - loves the bouncy castle...

On Monday one of our ewes had a premature birth of twins

the first poor wee bugger held in there for about 45mins while the other wee blighter was still born

The ducks held a collective egg dispatch the morning of the quake

a few were decidedly torpedo shaped too. And now one of the drakes attacks everytime we get near the pen & the goose bailed from her nest & clutch of eggs whilst the gander is still the psycho

though he does a full-on charge at vehicles when they come up the drive now

If anyone fancies a night or two away (but not too far away) this weekend we have a spare bed or two down here on the Lake at Ashvagas. Just far enough for you to get away from things but close enough to be able to still feel the aftershocks and not feel "left out". You will not need to bring anything but will have to put up with me swearing at the TV on Saturday night while watching the footy!!! PM me if anyone is keen.................cheers, Craig

More importantly, I finally got a decent nights sleep last night. Didn't notice anything, but more importantly mrs didn't notice anything so she wasn't waking me up to ask me if I felt the last aftershock

My sister lives in the new subdivision in Brooklands, her brand new house is to be demolished but it is still livable and they can stay there for about a year, until they are ready to rebuild another home. I helped my sister move on the day of the Quake last Saturday as she already had planned to move that particular weekend, talk about weird co-incidence.
The flat that she moved out of was in Kingsford Street at Burwood and that area was swimming in silt including a badly damaged flat!
Hope you guys are coping OK where you are, hang in there.

Haha - that 'pointy bit' is the aftermath of one of NZ's largest volcanoes - the harbour of Lyttelton is the centre of the old volcano and the entrance is where the side fell over. Apparently Quail Island in the harbours centre is the 'plug'.

I wonder if there is any shit still brewing up under there? If anyone sees dead fish floating on the top of the harbour water feel free to post!

Joking aside it is talk like that that is getting annoying - Mrs B's sister just called and apparently some geek put in the co-ordinates of the last shake and it was literally over the road from me! She was ready to pack up and move 2 kms to her mums. But really - where in Christchurch are you going to go to? If you are packing the best bet is to get out of town completely - way out!

Me I'm staying, the fucker has already had a go at my bike and I'm pissed off.

But I did mow the lawns today - I figured it made the place look a bit better, and up front on the cracked footpath some of the cut grass filled up the holes
