Just had the local plumber around to have a look at making my mains repair permanent. He's also registered with the council as an assessor so had a look around the house and said "don't be surprised if they decide to build you a new one" Bloody surprised me alright. He pointed out a lot of damage I'd missed - cracks, movement, etc. Still getting my head around what he said. The house is safe enough to live in ... at least he didn't say it wasn't!
The views expressed above may not match yours - But that's the reason my Dad went to war - wasn't it?
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!
You'd be surprised what you have to feel to race one of those things, unless it's a classic then anyone can do it
We didn't have a single rack come down anywhere even with one place I checked having racks not attached to the walls, although you could see witness marks where they'd walked around a bit
Spent yesterday tidying up at work, putting shit back blah blah.
We had a couple of filing cabinets tip up, and some big heavy bookshelves didnt tip but either they (or the building) swayed at least 50mm: there is a cable conduit skirting thing 50mm wide at floor level and the cabinet is against that, and there are marks in the gib where the corner has smacked the wall.. (which accounts for the contents being on the floor....)
interesting times in property lor presently, either for vendor or purchaser.
I thought elections were decided by angry posts on social media. - F5 Dave
And I have since over rulled... your joints fine, will need repair and piles checked, a weak ground structure runs under your house, road damage is high near you but the ground suprisingly dry.
yip that and old twin brick construction areas, as for ya ground type, what the hell did they expect building on filled swamp lands.
same, just got used to em i spose, seem to have lost my sea legs days ago
cheers DD

Just how bad is central Christchurch ?
RSV Mille: No madam, its an Aprilia, not a Harley. If it were a Harley, I would be pushing it !
Haven't seen them, but gotta remember too that a red sticker isn't necessarily a death certificate - could just be something simple/stupid like not having the loo... hope it isn't PL, they've been my choice for the last 3 sets of tyres and hopefully will be there for more times to come!!
PS - with all the city people, has anyone ever seen/heard of this particular ECAN gem before? ("Solid Facts - Christchurch Liquefaction")

Don't blame me, I voted Green.
If he did I don't think he'll be the only one, sadly ... but you can't blame anyone for making that choice, it's their right and a lot of small sole proprietor outfits will be sorely tempted to cash-up after any payout, I'd be guessing... I'm just hoping that it doesn't get to any stage of businesses being virtually forced into that "just not worth it" decision scenario by escalated insurance premiums (either direct or via rents).
Oh well, at least it was a fine day today. Got to keep positive too.![]()
He who shall go stately at the back and not stress out.
So Gareth what was it you said about MaxF's "Funky ass curves"? - God, now I'm worried...
