i so agree....is that figure from Fletchers gospel or just a rumour in the trade ?

Personally I don't expect ours to even be started for at least 2 years...too far out & too difficult. Can't see any builder wanting to do it any time soon.

we can do it, and we are one of the cheapest hourly rates companys around at 55ph not that I see even half of that...
Yip Fletchers rate is 45ph max, we are in the prosess of regestering now, however our own work will take pority as it will earn more, hence why it will take for farking ever to rebuild. IMHO Brocklands, Kaiopoi, Bexley etc it will take 2yrs just to bring the ground up to speed.

The best christmas party I went to this year was for a recruitment firm we've used. Talking to guys there, one from Hawkins (who have a big insurance co contract) and another couple of private builders: they say the same thing. Hawkins are paying $45/hr AND telling you where to buy stuff from (no margin there either for the builder) Guy was saying how great its going to be. But the other builders were saying "I cannot work for that, and hopefully I wont have to, with all the private enquiry Ive got"

I was in bunnings getting materials for fence repairs from the previous ones when that one hit. I decided that discretion was the better part of valour as I beat a hasty retreat from the rows of shelving as everything was shaking and rattling.

I agree - it woke me and I muttered "fuck off" before getting back to

I am house sitting in halswell at the moment, the house is already a write off so those aftershocks didn't do too much. But my parents house in fendalton has no power and the cracks in the plaster have opened up more. But at least my bike did not fall over . she was on the centre stand and it remained upright! (not like on the 4th of Sept )

hope everyone else's houses are all good (ish)

A bit of an eventful Boxing Day so far! I was at Riccarton Mall in that last decent one - yeah I know, but the kids had heaps of Christmas vouchers to spend and I was worried that the Government would devalue them!

As expected it was absolutely packed with families and teenage girls wearing next to nothing - that building had a heck of a shake! Lots of crying people etc.

What surprised me is that after all the shocks we have had the mall does not appear to be organised with evacuations etc yet!

I suspect there will be a fair number of homes that have just been plastered and poainted that will be requiring work again!

...complacency does not take long to reappear, my mother in law is back on the terrified list again, she was covered in shit falling from the angels banging heads way up high in the cathedral...doesn't bear dwelling on, but there is still a lot of loose shit way up high that can come down and cause terrible damage if you choose to hang around under it..

Surely they have to right? I mean these 'aftershocks' are still earthquakes in themselves.

    True!

Hey Christchurch people, sorry to hear that you have got the wobbles again!

We are all thinking of you, nothing we can do to help but we are thinking of you!

It will shift it's focus off somewhere else soon, hope it's not here, there's a big pond just up the river from our house.

    Hope it stays there!
