    Nice to do this......
I wanted too. Umme'd and arr'ed I thought the big wigs might just move it.....Well done!
Yes, hope everyone is okay, it was a shock...(no pun)
I was teaching today and a guy rushes in and tells us all in a big voice.......
We watched a bit of video, then there was a bit of silence. It is hard to concentrate...
I hope everyone is well and good wishes to all.......

Paul (Trials Rider) is good, all my family are ok which is cool.

We felt in in Wanaka, I immediately rang Paul and he sounded shocked and quite taken back.

Best to all fellow kiwibikers in chch.

We offer to any Christchurch KBers a bed in Wanaka if you want to or can get away from it, that is all we can do from a distance.

Thanks for all the texts guys.

Damn lucky I was not in my office cause apparently it was hard to get off the floor (6 of 7) that my desk is on. I've heard from Transalper and he is all well.

Got power back about an hour ago. All good here including immediate and extended family. Had tea cooked on a camping cooker - kinda fund to dig it out again

Also damn good that I was with my wife and son cause it really stressed my wife out. Was amazing watching the liquification occurring. We were in carpark after the event and it suddenly became very "squidgy" underfoot with the water pressures increasing. Needless to say we buggered off pretty quickly. Moorhouse Ave was about 200mm deep in silty water near us.

Feel very sorry for the people who are trapped and am extremely relieved that it didn't happen to me.

House has much more damage this time. Chimney will probably need to come down tomorrow and concrete tile roof has slumped (had a look and no obvious cracking in timbers). Staying with Bro-in-law across the road tonight.

To anybody local - if you need any help PM me or call on 021 2988 206. Also if anybody wants me to call on anybody to check if they are OK just get in touch.

    Cheers R
