Come to dorkland, there's less bikes (just) in b grade than A grade. They have to qualify to race for points. We don't yet.

Then again, Roys Hill, they put on a grade just for me, so it's even quieter. But they don't seem to do points any more (musta figured out that me getting lots of points was a joke when there was only a few of us "racing"). Oh gawd, Michelle's here, we've got to run c grade.

Hmm, wonder if we can work on that one when I come down at easter hehehe

Carrying on with my last comment. Much thanx to all of you for such a great day. Much thanx to Richard for those words of wisdom, they were a great help. i hadn't realized how bad I was fixating on the rear end of the bike in front until you pointed it out.

Big ups to Caleb for his outstanding riding. Maybe he could permanently swap bikes with Andrew to even up the field.

It was nice to feel "right" on the track again. Last year I felt like I lost my mojo with changing from 2 to 4-stroke, losing my confidence on a bike set up wrong for me to rider in a class where i felt completely out classed.

Sorry to anyone I wronged out there. After the first round's disaster I was gagging to get out there and did get carried away in the first practice.

In regards to the difference in numbers; After King of Kaitoke finishes is it worth changing the 45 sec qualifying to 50 seconds to move people into Grade A. I had my girls time laps and there was a group of about 5-6 riders at the front of Grade B consisting doing sub 50's, which was what the slower riders of Grade A were doing. It seems a good change over time, which not to hard to achieve with practice. Another option to consider (I think) is having an intermediate grade where people who are dong 45-50 sec laps progress through, so the top riders in grade A don't have their races interfered with by having to lap people.

As much as I like being at the front to be fair I would move back to Grade A if there were more riders of my level to race against.

What do you all think?

I would have liked to get out there and marshal more but with having both my girls there and gear changing issues I was only able to get out there once. I wanted to do more as it is a great way to study what lines the Grade A'ers are taking. I'm very keen to marshall at the point just before the S bend as that's where I still haven't figured out yet. Some time learning how to Marshall would be greatly apreciated.

I think You, Mark, and probably a few other B graders should be in A, you will find it much easier to progress.

I don't mean this to sound as harsh as it does but You should stop taking queer lines if you are going to race with faster riders.

One thing we have to remember this is a Kart club day so there MEMBERS of KARTSPORT WELLINGTON can race IT IS NOT A BIKE CLUB RACE MEET we can not just keep adding class after class to make it better for us. I suggest that more of the bike guys JOIN KARTSPORT WELLINGTON so it is not us and them it we become us and with this I am sure thieir will be more opportunity for more classes to be added as being members they will have to listen.

As for more riders coming in to A grade I am more than happy but at the mo the 45sec stands as the speed the front 6 are going it becomes very scary passing the slower riders, remember its not just one at a time its more like 3 or 4 making the same pass at the same time.

It's bloody scary being passed by a large group of riders also.... especially when some of them are wobbling all over the place and have pushed a pass on a corner because they see others doing it and think it's ok. "Hold your line", yes, but sometimes I'd rather just get out of the way than become the carnage on a corner thanks.

My brother and nephew managed 3rd and 4th's in B Grade on Sunday and that was only the second time they had ever raced.
I do not like the idea of them being out among the A graders at all!
They need a good seasons experience to be able to learn the art of close racing with other bikes before they step up.
I'm a couple of seconds a lap slower than the guys at the front and that means I don't get lapped in a 10 lap race, which is good for all concerned.
In a longer race, you get lapped, and it is NOT NICE when Fishie, Andrew, Richard, Hamish catch you up in the tight stuff, with just an inch separating their bikes, and no mercy shown (quite rightly). If the lapped rider makes the wrong move, he can take out 2 or 3 of the front runners, so the more experience/confidence, the better.
One other point is that there is now some really close racing at the front of B grade (and through the feild) and this is the best way to upskill. Passing lapped riders in B grade SAFELY FOR THE LAPPER AND LAPPEE is also good experience

It is always a difficult balance, but Fish is of course right, it isn't our meeting that we can add more classes. When someone wins superlotto & builds our own track we can have classes for transgender lefthanders wearing red leathers on 4 strokes or whatever.

In some ways it's a pity we have a running points system otherwise we could split the groups a little more evenly on the day depending upon numbers that turn up.

Its taken me a while to get the pace I can ride at now. I has been a painful journey of learning. It has only been in the last 2 or 3 months that I have thought myself ready to try and push to the speeds we are riding at now. We are lapping at 42 seconds and below now. Its a big jump from 50. That is a huge speed difference on track as we have all seen. Its a safety thing for me. For me the only reason I got faster was racing with the fast guys. Sketchy Sully Fish Bayden Dave t. They taught me enough to not piss them off to much. Sully used to call me the stop go merchant. Translation, Fucken dangerous git. If you are really wanting to go really fast then ask people to give advice and listen to everyone. Best advice I ever got was if you think you can't get on the gas. Harden up and get on the fucken gas you poof. Thanks Bro. Worked a treat.
