HAS to be a Clark's Pie - but unfortunately, you can only get them in and around Cardiff. Only thing I miss from home. Apart from Brains Dark, Welsh Brewers HB, and several other rather pleasant brews.

I respect your opinion Dude, however, while repping out that way couple of years ago, I bought and enjoyed one - YUM, so being a pig, bought another one - YUK, fill of gristle and definitely not tasting edible, - it has to be pretty to go out the window as it did.
It might be a one off tho......
BTW this thread has got the old mouth watering - one thing not available here in Bahrain is a genuine meat pie - (and decent bread except when the weekly Irish delivery arrives) ...when I get home the compulsory stop will once again be the Top Dairy in Kihikihi, for an OXFORD PIE - pref steak and cheese, but all OXFORDS I've tried so far are fabulous, get amongst them!
Steak and onion = primo also!
The other "must do"for Pie Lovers (Listening Maxx?) is the two time maker of NZ's best pie - based in Bethlehem, Tauranga - in the new shopping centre there adjacent to Countdown....sounds like the basis for a RTE (Ride to Eat) outing.............
Good thread Guys................

In Hawera used to be Frasers cake shop, mean mince pies made over many, many years, when business sold the recipe went to new owner who worked there, alas has closed down.
Can't beat an Andersons' pie naki wide.
Hello officer put it on my tab
Don't steal the government hates competition.
I had a brain fart some time ago, it was a Pied Run to Ratahei (they had the best pie shop around once yes?) but it never got past the thought process, it actually morfed into something else but thats whole another story.
I would draw attention to one factor that seems to have been overlooked in this thread - so far anyway.
Whilst I agree that Oxford make a decent pie, as do many other piemen, they can vary enormously from outlet to outlet.
F'rinstance. There is a dairy in the same block as my shop. They sell Oxford pies. But I won't buy 'em from there, nor any other brand of pie either, because they heat 'em up in the microwave and then stick 'em in the pie warmer. Microwaved pastry has the texture of smegma and never recovers its proper consistency. Trouble is the dairy owners are Indian and vegetarian to boot, so they wouldn't know what the hell to do with a pie anyway.
I have tried to explain what should happen but I may as well talk to the wall...
Mind you, it stops me gobbling pies all day and getting enormously fat...

I like the pies from PieMania on Wellesley St (I Think) - especially their Butter Chicken.
Anyone know a better Pie shop in the CBD? - Just in case I'm missing out.
Ciao Marco
in welly a trishas pie is a fairly safe option. However one can never consider a pie as an investment.Like beer pies are only rented....
in honour of this thread i have made a special trip across town and am about to consume, with great relish, a medium steak and onion "trisha's" pie .They offered a large but i declined....![]()
