Kicking the screen out would have ben an excellent idea!!! The risk wasn't because the vehicle doesn't appear inherently dangerous, but because the fuckwit driver couldn't see - he even admits that at night he was blinded by the staring of lights across the screen ...

And you look at the pictures of the roof it would have taken 5 minutes to push that out push out the windscreen and put up a temparary windscreen(those plastic sheet things).

Then as you well know, the story has probably been dramatised by the person writing it, wanting to sell themselves as a journo maybe and have a few easily led fools start some threads in the burn him colums of their favourite web site ... just maybe ?

Does that sort of shit have hit talleys ?

Now let me think back to when i used to ride motorcycles.... ummmm oh haha yep now i remember them times, when my visor gets all stary from old age and wiping the grime off don't seem to help no more, what do ya do ? Rip the visor off and take the chance of a bug or stone taking out an eye ? Put up with it if it ain't that bad really and it's only the last 10/15 minutes after sunset that are gonna be an issue (with being within a knats cock of my destination at sunset) with light reflection on the munted visor ?

    Fucking drama queens !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Wannabys don't get the front page of the DomPost mainly to themselves.

Big difference and more mug you if you do put up with a scratched visor but at least its easy lifted if you need to check something. Also a car or SUV without a front windscreen is still rather weather tight and the rain, stones, bugs etc don't hit the driver in the face.

Oh and don't forget the 2 day stop in Nelson.

Tempting but he only annoyed and saddened me, and is he worth the effort? Might be good for a to point and laugh at. The Media beat up is what angered me. The police I feel sorry for as they were suckered by this guy.

Posing with big smiles like 'hey look, life is wonderful to us' was totally insensitive and in bad taste.

So they found themselves with a working vehicle surrounded by injured and dying people and thought. Wow! These poor people. Hope someone else stops to help them. Lets go for a long drive so we can ignore the suffering.

Compared to BMW and their ilk, Lexus haven't been around long enough to have gathered such branding. Maybe because they are Japanese they never will achieve that true 'snob' branding, or maybe it's just a matter of time.

sorry Helen, have to disagree on this, they didn't go straight home, they wen't on holiday too.
a simple plastic replacement windscreen would've made it better.
what if he'd run over a child or a motorcyclist?????
    and now they're heroes!

I certainly don't think that they are heroes! I am simply saying that if I were in that situation I really don't know how I would've reacted and will not judge anyone.......
