Mitimiti anyone? Ridden the dunes had a beer?

Has anyone travelled there, head North after Opononi, wondered about those large sand dunes over the Hokianga?
I am planning a trip Easter, it will include those really small metal roads, dead ends that lead to some amazing scenery...
The Far North Beckons once more but it will involve a real roundabout way of getting there and staying OFF Tar as much as possible.....Yeah!

On TV? alrighty....Okay...Well, I see the roads out that way and there are plenty of ways to adventure...Plenty of metal and no traffic...Looks like a good route on the map. I have always wondered about the roads west after getting off the ferry from Rawene. I have done some of them but there is more to behold...... yep!

Will let ya know what has changed when I get there....This will be a no frills adventure, tent, sleeping bags and no showers probably, except the Tasman...
The roads North will be paved with metal!

    Not much will have changed.

Contact the Kaitaia 4wd club, they do a lot of stuff through the gum fields from Shipwreck Bay south. You can ride the beach south from shippies ( south end of 90 mile ) for a long way if you like sand & big dunes, not sure about the exit though. If you do consider this talk to the locals first, they have been getting a bit uppity about access & Kai Moana plundering lately.
Sorry, I have no contact for the 4wd club since I moved south.
