    BMW R80RT fork oil change?

Relative noob here who'd just drained and changed the fork seals on my '91 R80RT. I followed the Clymers manual and thought all was good when I clamped the bars back into place, but the forks now won't move more than 1cm.
The manual state 310- 330mm fork oil and I assumed that's per side. Can anyone confirm that and suggest what else may be going on here?

    Thanks, David

Are both sides doing the same? (Take wheel off, put one leg at the time against a block of wood and push down). If they are doing the same I suspect one of three things:
    1. You have some really heavy oil in there.
    2. You have done something wrong when assemblying them.
    3. Too much oil. But that means heaps of oil. And only if the manual was wrong would that be the case. (I assume you emptied the old oil out fully???)

No idea what amount oil you need. Try to letting a little of the oil out and see if that solves the problem.

May the bridges I burn light the way.
