Daytona 200 - you think we are disorganised?

anyone following the daytona 200 at the moment, things are just chaos.

front tyres falling to bits, red flags to change, crashes, oil on track, no one has any idea of who finished anywhere.

This at the USA's biggest domestic race.

ohh and do you like how the premier class isn't the premier class??

I imagine the Ducati rider will be upset, but his win is not a win. Once the red flag comes out and a race is called, the results are based on the last lap completed by the field. Which by the sounds of it was lap 41. If he wasn't in front then he doesn't win.

Lots of people don't think this is fair, but it's always been consistent and how it gets done.

Yeah I DVR'd it and watched it about 2hr after live. My recording stopped before the restart, they were still going on about the Duc #40 getting an engine change blah blah. Still haven't seen the rest of it. The whole thing looked like a severe cock up to me.
Leigh Diffey, the Aussie commentator, kept calling Daytona 'The world center of MC racing' bit of a stretch me thinks...
Anyway, time to watch the Indy SX, hope Chad Reed puts it to James Steward like he did a couple of weeks ago.

Same thing happened to Aaron Slight at hockenhiem he beat foggy but the red falg came out and it goes back to the previous lap so he got 2nd not 1st.
Must be a rule in the book to solve a pretty simple problem one would think

The insult to injury is when the rider that caused the red flag can still get points from the count back to the previous lap.

Hmmmm, tough call, the crash that redflagged the race happened after DiSalvo had crossed the line to win the race. He'd already taken the chequered flag.....then they crashed. Who'd wanna be an official.......

Daytona runs round part of the DIS speedway, running up the banking, and drafting even in superbikes plays a massive part of the race.

The accident was caused by one of the riders having his front brake lever clipped by the elbow of one of the guys he was racing, slowing him slightly and getting into a decent smash with a lapped rider from behind. not really his fault or anything he could have done about it. hard to automatically exclude him, or the guy who hit him, or the guys who got tangled in it later too.

as slowpoke said, who'd wanna be an official

Same thing happened when I was racing in OZ 2nd place took out 1st place rider both went down the guy that knocked the leader off got up carried on, Guy got knocked off from 1st place was injured but he was the reason for red flag so he got excluded. Simple if the rules are in black and white. If you are the cause of the red flag you are excluded. Also simple if red flag comes out it goes back to the previous complete lap. How fucken hard can it be

But the red flag has come out after the checquered flag. The race is completed when he crosses the line isn't it? Or is it completed when the last competitor crosses the line? Fark, I need a drink just thinkin' about it.....
