    Thumbs up Great site! (prospeed‎)

Stumbled on this site by accident - glad i did !!.
Let me start by saying my wife and i are thinking of all you folks in Christchurch after the terrible earthquake . I spent a great 18 months based at RNZAF base Wigram in the seventies while serving with the RNZAF. My wife and i both love Christchurch and when we see the devastation and heartbreak we take it personally and feel your pain . We lived through the Northridge earthquake here in Los Angeles in the early 90's and know exactly what you are going through - it's something you never forget . The press here have said due to the proximity to the surface of the Christchurch quake it was more powerful than Northridge and Haiti . It's a terrible time but for what it's worth we're praying for you .
Onto something a little lighter .
    A brief background on myself - i lived in New Zealand from '72 - '91 - Good Times !!!.
I try and get back there whenever possible but now my family have all moved to Melbourne it does'nt happen often enough .
I was the Auckland MCC F3 champ in '88 when F3 first started .
The 70's and 80's were great times for road racing - i remember such greats as Vince Sharpe , Eric Bone , Glen Williams , Paul Pavelitich , the Hiscocks , Robert Holden , Roger Freeth , Graeme Crosby , Norris Farrow , Aaron Slight , Simon Crafar -the list is endlees . There were great international series too back then - the Marlboro series jumps to mind . Stu Avant would be back from europe with a host of stars to compete .
    Like i said - GOOD TIMES !!.
I follow the racing as much as i can in NZ - seems pretty strong with some fast guys and close racing . Andrew Stroud seems ageless - i remember when he was first starting out - rumour has it he was an apprentice machinist and used to wear his leathers under his overalls and at lunch time he would go down to Mt Wellington Kart track and rip around for an hour on his fzr1000 and tzr250 .
I see Tony Rees and Brian Bernard and the Lawrence Bros are still out there doing it !.
    Ok - i'm rambling !!.
Lastly - maybe i can be of some help to some members . I own a motorcycle shop here in Los Angeles - Prospeed Motorcycles Inc . It is a small independant shop catering to 70's-80's-90's bikes the dealers will not touch . I have accounts with most of the big distributors and know many of the wreckers so if i can find parts or supply new product please contact me . I prefer shipping with USPS - cheaper .
Email me at ian@prospeedmc.com with any questions.
Looking forward to visiting Kiwi Biker daily!.
    Ian McAdam .

Hi Ian, was going to PM you but saw that you won't have use of the private messaging system just yet.

I'm after a good (as near to perfect as I can get it) condition seat for my Katana - (the old brushed vinyl not the newer smooth version). Could you let me know if you ever come across one?
