Wanting to buy a first bike

im looking to buy a bike to learn on 250cc something not too big or heavy as im quite slim and cant lift more that 85kilos if i fall off(not that i plan on falling but lets be real). i prefer a bike with full fairings to a naked bike and one i wont have trouble buying parts for if it breaks. i dont know alot about motorcycles so i need help. am looking to spend 2k or less and preferably a rego and wof inc.

    (All are in Auckland.)

Some of them are really stretching the 2k budget, but I think you might have to stretch it to get a decent reliable bike. ( I presumed you wouldn't want a GN250) Unless a Fellow Kiwibiker can cut you a deal?

Those first couple of ZZRs would be thr go, I reckon.

Much easier to learn on than the ZXR, I would have thought.

GPX and ZZR are good bikes (very similar). Girlfriend is having no trouble on my GPX.

I have herd good things about the ZZRs learning wise,
and I wouldnt worry too much about the bikes weight, you will find once your seated on it, it holds itself up and if it should happen that you knock it over, come off it or whatever, its not all that hard to pick back up, ill include a link similar to the one that helped me out.
I Started off on a CBR250 and im something like 5'4 im heavier than most and I Had the unlucky experience of playing superman but I managed to pick up my 160kg bike like it was a piece of toast.
I think the key to a first bike, is to sit on as many as you can, weather you like them or not it will give you a good idea on what type of bike you want, I found it easier to get a bike I could get both feet on the ground flat, it gave me that little bit more confidence knowing I could put both feet down and the bike would be bolt upright and not leaning to one side.
Different story now that I have a bigger bike, been so short upgrading is difficult when it comes to sports bikes, I know play tippytoes at intersections haha
Anyways back on topic and all, here is the link if you want to watch it.

    I'd reccomend;
    Suzuki GSF250/Bandit/Katana
    Suzuki GSX250 Invader or Across.
    Honda VTR250
Honda VT250 Spada (my favorite, but, I am biased)
Yamaha SRV250, very, very cool bikes, look and sound choice and won't get you in trouble.
Kawasaki ZZR250/GPX250, brilliant value for money and very comfortable.

Try sitting on all/any that you can, you will make your mind up =)
My top picks would be ZZR250 and VT250 Spada
