I'm not 'personifying' nature, I'm just saying that we can't ultimately beat it. If disease etc had kept our numbers in check then there would be less need for people to live in riskier areas. However we have defeated a lot of diseases etc so as our population has increased more people are moving to those more at prone areas, ending up in increased deaths. Either way, the planet we live on has the final say.

I see tonight that Japan has just been hit with a 8.8 earthquake, buildings still swaying 30mins after the shake. A 4m tsunarmi sent buildings, cars floating away.

Also China has been hit as well. Seems like the 'ring of fire' is warming up.

I'm not surprised the buildings were still swaying, look at the size of the after shocks... thoughts with the Japanese

Ummmmm predicting an earthquake in Japan is like predicting you will have sunrise tomorrow.
They have had a few, for a while......
You could tell how used to shakes the Japanese are by the way they reacted on some of the TV shots. Hiding under tables? No. Holding onto the computers to stop them hitting the floor! Even saw one guy carrying on pecking away at his keyboard through the shake.

    That makes chilling reading.

As an aside, Nick Smith MP is having lunch with the Skeptics Society on March 20th, in Christchurchs highest, oldest stone building. Scientists will also be attending in the hope of strongly discrediting Ken Rings theories.

I've just read that one... now if there was ever a reason to want a Ring prediction to come true (the second comment in the comments section, oddly enough, GOLD!). As a sidebar, i know it won't happen, the Wizard of Christchurch was in the same place as myself and family yesterday and assures us that it won't happen because he's cast a spell. Wonder what shrub's PJ has to say about that

If by some crazy coincidence it does happen, I wonder if he will charge an appropriate levy on the skeptic's membership fees?

Personally I think Ken Ring's prediction of an earthquake is no less likely than Nick Smith's prediction that I will have a serious harm injury on my motorcycle. The difference is Smith gets to enact the law.

Without a doubt. Instead of buying 'eco-lightbulbs' and hybrid cars, which ultimately make no difference we need to cull half the world and restrict breeding by way of reversible sterilisation at birth.

But, if that's true, it would mean that "they" already know how to predict earthquakes? Why wouldn't "they" tell anyone that they could? Oh yeah, because people would panic... perhaps if "they" told us in the first place, then "we" would actually get used to the idea (earthquakes being unstoppable and all ), and we'd be better prepared and life would go on as normally as possible. Shows what "they" think of "us"!!!!!!!!!!!!! if of course "they" can predict earthquakes...

We need a plauge time for the US and Russians to get that smallpox virus out

Dead right - biologically we've overloaded the world with faulty people.

All the fancy vacines, drugs and safety measures has allowed stupid diseased and geneticly (sp) defective people to be part of the population.

They would'nt last 10 minutes in the jungle.

    Flame away but I'm right.

I'll play ... what are the hallmarks of a genetically defective person? I'm yet to meet one.
