Hyo GT250 Comet + GT250R lower fairing?

Hi folks,
Has anyone ever looked at putting the lower fairings from a GT250R onto their GT250? I've had my eye on some real cheap but damaged fairings on trademe with the idea of chopping them a bit and making a sortof bikini/streetfighter style fairing to hide the piddly looking front and lower parts of the frame but am unsure what the mounts are like and if it's even possible to do?
Any input from 250R riders on the mounting system for fairings would be greatly appreciated.

The mountings are just pressed steel clamps that bolt over the frame - no rocket science. If you buy used fairings just tell them you want the mountings plz.

I looked at making a belly pan for my mrs' 650 Comet. There wasn't really anything that didn't look like a toilet seat, and I didn't fancy my skills as a scratch-build fibreglass person, so I never got back to it.

It wouldn't be hard though, to mold some foam around there, glass over it, rip the lot off, remove the foam, and then sand/paint/polish it and bracket it up.

Cheers DB , seems easy enough but knowing me I will find a way to make it difficult. My cunning plan is to lob the top of the lower fairing off leaving just a bit of the front (to cover the ugly bit of the frame) and the belly pan bit.
How many mounts are there for just the 'belly pan' section on a 250R fairing?

I don't fancy my skills at fiber glassing either, even with the whole year in 6th form frigging around with a lotus 7 nose cone ... Was just going to get a mate who's done a bit of plastic welding to fix the damage and then go from there.

It shouldn't overly hard, just do it. I managed to get a CBR400RR fairing on my VT250 and that ended up looking the part (in my mind...)

Wow that looks cool. I'm trying to achieve the same thing but with the lower fairings. Love the one headlight look of my bike but it feels like its missing something with all that frame exposed, yet I love seeing the engine so a bit of hackwork is going to be done.

Im not particularly familiar with the models you mentioned, but with a bit of mucking around, I really cant see it being all that hard to do.

You get a great sense of satisfaction from doing a one off custom mod to your bike, and knowing that YOU did it, and nobody else has a bike exactly the same.
Rashed fairings are great, you can be super creative.

None to speak of, and certainly none that are any use to you.

The R lower fairings have a couple of screws toward the rear (nothing substantial) but the whole front area is hung from the upper cowlings.

Basically what I'd be cutting out is much of the center section that covers up the engine leaving a L shaped fairing to cover the front of the frame and belly of the bike. No point having a pretty V-Twin if nobody can see it

Cable ties and duct tape. Done.

Masking tape, mark, and cut out the fairing, and temporarily mount it where you want it using ice-block sticks and bondo. Then take a look at what brackets you need and where, fold them to shape and mount it all up while tweaking everything to fit. Then rip it all off and finish the fairings off nicely and fit them up.
