It's terrifying news. I'm watching the footage too. It breaks your heart to think of all they are about to go through. Thoughts are with Japan, may you all be safe, and find your loved ones.

Crazy times in the world at the moment.

News is saying it's 7.9, not 8.8. But they're not sure.

The pics they were showing were from a live webcam. You could see lots of shit moving left to right. A few minutes later it was all moving right to left. That was the tsunami pushing into the harbour in Senhai. I missed the bit where a ship hit the bridge.

It is an 8.8 - It was upgraded from 7.9 about 30 minutes ago. There was a 7.1 aftershock a little while ago too.

Guess we won't know the actual magnitude for a while. The different news services are reporting different magnitudes.

When you see how many have been around Japan, it makes the ChCh quake look minor.

Terrible news and condolences for the inevitable loss of life. Tragedy just keeps on hitting hard.

China hit the other day, CHCH, Haiti and others.... the fear is not knowing if or when the next big one will hit. Certainly feels like uncertain times.

    Scary.....

My brother lives and works in Tokyo. I finally got a call to him... "It was a big bastard!!"

If Tokyo got that much of a shake, the Sendai Prefecture must have been hell.
