I had a ponderous thought...is the current Honda MotoGP rider line up looking reminiscent of the Doohan and Criville days of the mid to late nineties??
With three member team that had 4 riders at times...
Even though he hasnt won a No1 plate (yet) , the little Mexican still rates higher in my books than Criville ? , Is Stoner better than Doohan though ?, i suppose we will never know as its so hard to compare the high-siding 2smoke style to the current crop of bikes and their relavant styles. Each to their own i suppose (on the day).
Intersting team structure though as you say Poos,
As you say...it's impossible to compare riders from different eras. But I for one think Stoner would've been more than happy sideways on a nasty two stroke. He was after all, a masterfull dirt track champion as a kid, and he sure has been REAL sideways on the Ducati at silly speeds over the years. That said...I'll always think Doohan was THE man!
On another note...Fuck Hopkins. Suzuki should ring Mat Mladin and tell him to get his leathers out. Let's see what he can do.
Doohan was always in sync with his mates on the track.
The Eurosport lot keep going on about the similarities between this year and back then. When last Honda had a 3 rider team they won every single race that year, no other make of bike took the top step at all.
I'm hoping Spies and Rossi make sure that particular piece of history isn't repeated.
