I have yet to buy any gear. I have only just sold my car and realised its better to get a decent bike and then build up gear than to get a crappier bike but have half the gear sitting there. either way i would still need to buy some stuff except i would be watching bike on trade me wishing i had spent just a little bit more.

Just make sure you don't end up sitting/lying somewhere wishing you had spent more on gear!
Have you done a bit of reading and got a gear list sorted? I would recommend figuring out what bits of gear you do need (without thinking of the cost), then pricing/buying it before riding.

The bike will not be leaving the garage until i have a full set of gear. im going for 150helmet from motomail and then 300 for jacket and pants. then need to find some basic gloves and boots.

Good plan, I got a bunch of dirtbike gear from mrmotorcycles (iirc, similar setup to motomail anyway) and their sizing charts etc make it easy to get the right size stuff, and if you cock it up you can exchange it anyway.

errr, not so sure about cheaper, but money spent on motorcycling is money you enjoy spending I reckon, and it's definitely way more fun. Course you can be unique, just like everyone else

    Hi guys.
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=361422124

Iteresteed in this. gonna go view saturday an take it if its good. Just wondering. He says the muffler has a slight rattle. What could this mean. Simplish fix or massive dollars and how do I tell the difference. Also does anyone have a trailer capable of trasporting a bike I would be able to borrow for a few hours at the most. I have a trailer but the rego lapsed and its not worth pying several hundred for a one time trip.

    Thanks

It could mean that the muffler has a slight rattle...loose/broken baffles to loose/worn mounts. Assuming the noise does actually come from the muffler
