Post Auckland public spaces in private buildings

Heard this on the radio last weekend.

Evidently there are lots of cases of buildings being erected on public space on the condition that they recreate a public space within the building. Eg the rooftop of the BNZ tower.

Of course the developers/owners either don't allow that or don't tell anyone, but that might be about to change.... Suck on that big baldy fat one you corporate facists!

Something positive from the super city (it was the waitemata local board that raised it).

Like paper roads, they are free for the public to use...but try telling a farmer that.Actually most are ok if ask about it.

Looks like they'll soon be legally obligated to explicitly signpost and allow access. No asking required, just rock on up the BNZ tower in ya boardies carrying deck chair and chilli bin!

I was night fishing for squid off the rocks in front of million dollar mansions between Takapuna and Milford, and a fat baldy fascist mansion owner took flash photos of me, around 10pm. Caught lots of squid there as he shines a 1000watt spotlight on to the ocean in front of his home.

I think I'll bring a stereo next time

Fun! How big are the squid? Do they put up any sort of fight? Fishing for squid sounds like fun and grilled squid is yummy.

Not much of a fight, they pull a bit then run out of steam pretty quick. Casting a jig is lot like jig fishing for trout or salmon, there is some skill it catching squid. The roe and eggs are the gold, and the meat is the soft expensive squid, I still cant eat it raw, and like it cooked Italian, Pacific island, or Greek or Thai styles. Squid is almost a superfood nutrient wise, and the beaks make you horny if you eat a few

I remember walking along a beach in thailand high as fuck on mushroom milkshakes, looking up and seeing the horizon out to sea in a wall of fire.

About an hour and 400 "wow man" 's later and thinking we were in an apocalypse now flashback a local told us the fishermen light fires on their boats to actract the squid.

Unfortunately, they own the land right down to the high water mark ... so they can fence off their land ...
