Up for sale is a: 2004 Yamaha R1 in Yamaha electric blue. It has 26,500kms and I am the second owner. The first owner purchased from Yamaha NZ and rode it for one summer only doing 4,630km. I’ve had it ever since.

It’s only been weekend ridden and has taken me on some nice summer South Island tours and rallies. It is a great bike for on the open road, has plenty of power and a nice chassis. It’s also a surprisingly nice tourer.

The third gen R1 has a great 20 valve engine with lots of performance, radial brakes, underseat exhausts and nice modern styling. This bike would still keep up with all your mates’ latest kit.

The bike has been very well looked after; it currently sits on Continental Race Attack tires, the front is good and rear is fair/good.

At about 500/600kms ago, it has received the following:
    - New Yuasa YTZ10S battery, value $450,-
    - Full coolant change
    - Fresh oil and filter
    - New set of front brake pads
    - Changed brake fluid, front & rear
    - New set of NGK sparkplugs

    The bike comes with:
    - Ventura pack rack carrier system (best motorcycle carrier gear, and NZ made, proud)
    - Ventura Spada pack
    - Ventura Silverstone magnetic tank bag
    - Owners manual
    - Full workshop service manual
    - All factory key sets
    - CD Rom with full Factory Race kit manual, owners & service manuals

To view a ‘walk-around’ on this bike go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pafGTenyrlc

This R1 is well presented and well priced. The only thing I would have changed myself in the next little while (but that’s primarily because I’m fussy) is re-powdercoated the wheels, they have some paint stones flakes, picked up along West Coast roads (ref to pic).

Good luck with getting your full. You've got some great riding roads around where you live. Roaming thro there, and some of southland-coastal otago is great on a road bike, aye
