Is that the illuminated red dot that appears on the target, or the kind where you keep both eyes open and only see the dot yourself through the sight?

Hey you'll need a gun licence or be with someone who has one not that stops most people anyway. Just apply for one at the cop shop. And you can use whatever gun you want as long as its covered by your licence gunerally a general rifle for basic gun licence. Then just get a gun. a 22 will do and the cheapest but alot more fun with something bigger. Ive got a magnum 22 but every now and then take the 308 or shotgun out to see how much of a hole I can make.

The red dot shows up on the target, they are about 200$ and run off small battery you MUST have one if you have a pistol, or automatic rifle. helps your accuracy.
I got it as a present its like this one, but abit smaller (and is on a real gun).

Used to have one of these. Different scope but did have the bipod.

Loved laying prone out by my grandpa's back door taking out cans on the fence 100 yards or so down his ranch.

Edit: Tristank do you realize the last three up-reps I got came from you? Not that I'm complaining lol

If you are not worried about silencers (I LOVE a silenced gun) use one of the new .17 rimfires, tons of grunt, straight-line accuracy and little chance of ricochet! (a .22 subsonic will bounce off a tight bra!)

I have used a silenced .44 lever-action, accurate, POWERFUL but oh, what a chunk of lead to launch into the air - and where will it land?

I KNOW. I NEVER PM PEOPLE. I MESSAGE THEM WITH REP AS ITS EASIER THAN CLICKING THROUGH THE BLOODY CONTROL PANEL OR SOME STUPID MENU ON THEIR NAME.

I miss my guns. Had some very nice rifles me and my dad used for deer hunting in Mississippi and for range shooting. Loved the outdoor ranges best cause I was always better at the long range shots than him. He always got me when I came to pistols though.

Damn I might have to see about buying myself a good air rifle so I can go hunt some Possum aswell. Know my mom would appretiate it cause she loves the fur. Could jerk the meat aswell, the dog will love it when I get one.

Yea, but probably have to start out with one to practice shooting for a while. Been about 4 years since I went range shooting and another 6 since I went hunting. My accuracy probably needs some work.

plenty of moving targets round NZ, just shoot it if its in the paddock - make sure its not a P monkey but.

Don't think it is. I spend a lot of time on river beds fishing and hear gunfire. I know a lot of shooters go after rabbits on riverbeds but I doubt if it is legal without a permit. Private land with permission for both rabbits and possums would be the way to go. I use a shot gun on both.

rubbish, but you aint allowed MSA, military styled auto or something on your standard license

all you need is a car battery in a back pack a nice bright torch and a 22, we had a gevarm semi 22 that would get the buggers, so much nicer when they just stopped and looked back at the bright light

Silencers only work with subsonic ammo

You could consider useing a bow.
You don't need a big money compound bow,I do all my rabbit, possum an goat shooting with a longbow.
You often get a better reception from land owners carrying a bow rather than a rifle.
It's just another option,I actualy have a fair collection of rifles as well.
Our gun laws are pretty easy to live with and just require common sence.
Good luck what ever you do.
