possums are teh scum of the earth

And despite the fact taht shooting the buggers is decidedly satisfying, the best way to deal to them is poison. but of course you need a licence for that tooo

You cant shoot in national parks in the same way that you cant speed on NZ roads. We tramped alot of tracks around the country and used to come across alot of possums so we did what we had to to take care of them as a national pest. A heavily sportserized 410 or .22 did the job as generally it was close range stuff.
The best thing to shoot from is a Quad with an oversized battery. You can run 2 spotlights and have up to 4 shooters (but your not going to go very quickly). We usually had a couple .22's a shotty and a 22/250 in case we saw something big worth bagging. We hunted on a farm that hadnt seen hunters for years and got over 500 possums (we ran out of bullets).

Used to trap and bait them for skins when I was a kid, good money at the time for a 13 year old.

Shoot them, poison them, trap them, run them over, feed them dehydrated apples (then you can just kick em to death). Do what ever you have to but KILL AS MANY AS YOU CAN. I hate hate hate those furry little fuckers.

Used to get them in army rat packs. Leave em out, possums eat them and I guess the apple absorbs water and swells in there stomachs. They certainly dont sound well. We found a few lying around our bivys panting and groaning and not being able to move to quick. Liberal application of army boots, job done!

I love dehydrated apples (the type you get from the pick'n'mix at the supermarket anyway), maybe that's a diff type. Almost as good as whole dehydrated bananas coated in chocky! MMmmmmm.
