It was a great weekend to be sure but if you have the ear of anyone I heard a few folks saying they wanted water for drinking or to make their cups of tea with, some heated water similar to what is available at the Woodstock I guess would be the idea.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

Always good to get useful feedback. Will pass it on (though someone will probably read it here anyway)

I've done a few Monkies but the edge has gone off it.
When you're at an event, that's billed as a hard mans event, just how many are really there?
I went a couple of years ago and wandered around to mix with the humans and meet others.
Most common greeting I got when I went up to a new group around the fire is that I put on another piece of wood, as nobody could be bothered getting up.
Few people are self sufficient and have got lazy and lethargic from it too it's one thing to bring a bit of gear in a back up vechile but too many are just going overboard in my opinion.
, and their general mood is more like they're ticking off another Brass rather than getting into the game.
The fun didn't seem to be there in reality...

I'm, aware that some don't want to do the whole trip on a bike and trailer their bikes there, that's their call but to trailer them across the road is about the only option for most.
Has the club thought about getting a local club/kindy/periodic detention crew etc in say Ranfurly to offer supervised parking over the weekend so people can at least ride a few miles knowing their cars safe?
user pays of course, another option for the punters, and another input by the whole event into local charities etc.

Not picking holes in the Rally at all, just responding to the poster quoted.

I really enjoyed it this year, ran into some faces, and enjoyed the trip to and from. For 2011, it would have been the coldest ever I have riden to, as it was never above 7 degrees all the way from home, and mostly sub 4 degrees. Stayed in Alex this year, and through to the site ariving early, making the arvo very very long. really good night had though. The heavy rain was kinda soothing in the morning, and after jumping up to pack up when it had finished. Enjoyed an stunning ride back up through central, at around 12 degrees plus, and sun shine much of the way.

That was my 10th, in a row. And as I always do, will look forward to next year.

    Some pictures.

It was more light hearted banter towards fjrider and cj(lurking round here somewhere) , "omc" was what was said on the night.... re band and mainly their age etc, photo's indicate there were a few auditions lol. tis a forum after all. numbers were abit light on it, given the weather. That is a seperate comment by itself c/c.
Fireworks and bonfire were good, and firewood a plenty given the light numbers,
fuel prices aren't going to drop any time in the forseeable future c/c.
I had a enjoyable time with my mates and a good ride........but I do at a number of other rallies as well.

Lurking - I never lurk - just wait and pounce

This was my first monkey so I can't compare to any previous. Had quite a good time and most people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Organizing any event has its risks as you never know how many will turn up. Given the mild conditions and reports of previous attendances, I expected to be one of thousands rather than one of hundreds but more is not necessarily better…

Here’s some snaps. I don't recommend taking an MT01 over Danseys but I was very surprised that it uses less gas than a certain DR650

    My 1st one

I can only add to the good things said about this years brass. Well organised & run, good food, great people on site & a very positive experience IMHO.

A special thanks to flip & kris for their hospitality

3 days each way for me to "do the brass" . Currently in Picton waiting for the ferry back to the north island with one of my riding buddies, the other one is in Kaikoura hoping the local bike shop has a tyre for his Duke.
