Er... I detected his usual ascerbic tone in his use of "quotes".
I assume he was distancing himself from the distasteful use of Americanised spelling by another, less discerning member..?

    Holy Hell!

Just read this post as been away for a few days. Had to reread the title a few times as I couldn't believe it was Stonechucker that was hurt

Was heart in mouth as I scrolled through but so so glad to hear that you are doing better and out of ICU.

Take care Dave and get well soon. Regards to your parents and friends, family. VTwin, you're a great mate!

Yes please do! Saw Dave today and I'm sure he perked up a bit when I told him there was over 20 pages of posts and get well messages - he said he was looking forward to reading them.

To all those who were praying, sending positive energy, sending happy thoughts etc etc - keep them coming - he will need them for a while yet

Well, as soon as his arm is up to spec anyway...
A big thing Dave has going for him it the fact that both legs and one arm are "ok" so he will be mobile enough to walk and drive an auto. As anyone who has had a multiple arm or a leg injury knows this is a huge step to rehab as it allows you a level of independace and the ability to get out and socialise a bit.
As was previously mentioned the support network often drops off significantly after a short period, and even although Dave is lucky enough to be able to walk and drive he will still require our ongoing support. Please, especially those of you in wellington, continue to think of Dave in the coming months as those can be the most mentally testing times of the rehab.

Dave I wish you all the best mate, and hopefully you wont be so rude and sleep through my next visit!
    Has anyone seen my baffles?

(just using your quote as an example John, as a few have said the same)
SC may not be in a hurry or have the interest in riding for a while after such a bad fright/acco..... I know I'd be shitting myself at getting back on the bike after such a thing, and for years after I reckon I'd freak every time I was in a similer situation to the acco.
Conferdance and nerves take a long time to heal....... SC if you are in no hurry to ride again, I will be right behind ya to support that disision

Now..... SC bloody good to hear ya sorting ya shit out in hospital, ya poor fuker ya going to be bloody sore for quite a while, such a relief to know things are picking up for you
    cheers DD

Speedy recovery Dave I'm thinking of ya.

Yup! I saw Sels1 there and met Daves dad last night.

Left my little LCD TV and a bag fulla batteries to keep him distracted during the boring days.

Hospitals are the best place while you are banged up but otherwise they are not great are they!

    Cheers

Stonechucker - glad you are hear to tell the tale, sucks about the bike, but what is money in regards to life?

VTwin - sucks to see another rider go down, but I for one would be grateful to have a fellow rider be near me after the event, they have more idea about what just happened and the effects, riders understand the risks.

Both of you stay strong, many people here will offer whatever support we can. Any cute nurses by the way?

Seeing as the nurses were hiding, I assume you offered to give him a sponge bath?

Yep, had the problem as a male RN as I'd be the one they'd send. Where's care for the patient's total welbeing if you don't let the male patients case the cute female nurses. Definitely an inscentive for a patient to mobilise

Just a quick update guys - Dave is out of surgery. Both were good (arm and leg) and he is now allowed to sit at an angle which he is very happy about. His arm has shown a little bit of improvement and we are all hopefull of the outcome. Andre and Sheila are exhausted...

Good news is I spoke to Dave for a few minutes - he was struggling to talk, but he sounds ok! Getting stronger every day.

No spinal injuries then as well as no major head injuries? Shit hot. It's still going to be a long road but the outlook as far a recovery is concerned is fairly good if you don't have ether of those injuries. I really hope that is the case for you, Dave.

Glad to here that you guys are there for Dave and his parents. Keep up the good work. Proud of you, Dudes And Dudettes

Have they actually determined the fault of the accident - I am struggling to see how Dave could have been involved in such a bad accident without the 'assistance' of a 3rd party

Unfortunately Dave has been admitted back into ICU.

Now more than ever Shelia & Andre need our support.

Not sure at this stage if they are accepting visits.

Got my fingers crossed for you buddy.

Well, let's not assume worse than we need to. He's had a few operations lately. Sometimes the stress of that makes injured people a bit more fragile, and they move them back to ICU just so they can keep a closer eye on them . My undertsanding is that ICU each patient has a full time nurse (ie one nurse per patient) , more or less. Whereas general ward it's a nurse or two per ward. So they can monitor things much more closely in ICU.

I'm hoping anyway, so I'll run with that theory until I hear something definately bad.

Thougts and prayers . And other suchlike stuff.

I'll leave it for another day.

    Fingers crossed for you buddy...
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
