Price of petrol solves the price of milk

    Just an observation.

Before the Christchurch EQ on 22 Feb, there was an uproar about the price of milk. People were saying that the price of milk was more per litre than a litre of petrol.

I see that the problem has been fixed.

The price of petrol has gone up now, so milk is no longer more expensive than petrol.

    Gosh, I feel heaps better.

I have pondered the fuel issue recently. The last time that petrol was this expensive, there was a marked decrease of vehicles on the roads. "Rush hour" was far lighter. Not this time though.
    Odd.

I'm working on a bike powered by milk. As soon as I sell enough of them, the fuel companies will start discounting petrol.

    Donuts.

Depending on location it is probably because the unreliability of 'public transport' systems still trumps the cost of fuel. In Wellington that is likely to be the case for some time.

People are getting used to higher and higher prices. A while ago there was uproar at $2/L. Now its over $2/L, not much complaining, so it will take another hike (perhaps 2), to hear complaints again.

Also, in some areas public transport is not an option, no trains out in East Auckland, and the buses hit most of the same traffic. Even where there are trains, passengers get dumped without warning, leaving them to their own devices etc. If you want passenger loads to increase, then provide reliable services.

I used the ferry from half moon bay while at Uni, but the last ferry out of the CBD was 8pm, unless it was a Friday... at times, very inconvenient.

Ah, the 'ol "Lactose Combustion Engine" eh?

You'd have a license to... uh... milk money? Milking the motorists for all they're worth. Et cetera.
