Ooo, I reckon you're on to something there. Tank F1. Imagine the mayhem and destruction. Imagine the TV ratings. Imagine the $$$$ rolling in.

    1480hp with a topspeed of 78kph...

    The mathematics is wrong.

    173km/h average for V8's, 207km/h for F1 with limited track time......that's a chasm.

Yes I realise 18s is an eternity in racing, and the differential in average speeds is an impressive amount no doubt, however I was simply stating that I was surprised that they were that close.

I understand what you mean, and I think it's a testament to both the ability of the V8 Supercars and the skill of their drivers. If you really think about it, what they can achieve is very impressive. Notable was that Jensen was only 1 sec. faster than Craig despite being a F1 champion. I've watched Craig for years and seen some incredible drives by him at Bathurst!

18 seconds.... A few hundreds of million dollars and a handful of Ph.Ds of difference.

Pi is just a number too eh?

I think you'll find Mr Button was gently pedalling a museum piece around a bumpy circuit in the middle of nowhere.

I rather suspect that Mr Button could find another 20 seconds, where Mr Lowndes is at the limit of what his tiny amount of seat time in an F1 car would give him.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Nail on the head. Exactly my point, it is a testament to the quality of the V8 supercar. Equally impressive was the drive by Craig, like you say only a second off the pace (albeit Jensen's first time around Bathurst).

Quite possibly true, but then again these cars don't drive particularly well at anything below 10/10ths. Well from everything I've read etc, gotta get heat into those tyres and brakes, otherwise they won't turn or stop so well.

the best thing I've ever seen on that is Richard Hammond attempting to drive one. It was a few years ago and it was a Renault F1 car.

And Craigs' first time in an F1 car?

JD I doubt Jensen could have gone much faster, the McLaren was not set up, (or designed), for such a track and he commented on the difficulty he had with it.
