Iv,e done the mod, to the oil ways in the forks,they are now much more steady than they were,but still flop about a bit.

I just purchased that exact gas tank from a guy on E-Bay auctions. I was given a 73 TX650 which I am turning into a cafe bike. If you're looking to do the same...check out the 650 Society on the web.
