my mate is having speedo problems with his 2004 ttr250. after a quick examination i found the speddo cable only moves when reversing the bike?
    any ideas?
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

Prolly a broken cable. Ragged break that catches when turned one way (reverse) but not the other...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Have you removed the whole thing from the bike?

Right...then hold one end of the inner cable, and at the same time try to turn it at the other end. If it does turn, then it's broken. Or simply try to pull out the inner.
If not, then the drive gear/s in the hub? have gone skewwhiff (very unlikely).

All that's left then is the drive gear/s in the hub. Strip out and replace...
