Car stolen! Anyone seen a light green '95 Sunny? TT8722

Our tenant's car was stolen last night and what really sucks is I heard it go and thought someone was being very considerate to close a door and drive off so quietly at that hour!!!!! What is worse is that the glass on the ground means they broke a quarter-light window to get into it which I didn't hear, athough that may have been why I woke up.

It is a mint '95 Nissan Sunny sedan in light green, reg. TT8722 stolen from Orewa sometime around or after midnight last night. The Police said they'll probably find it as it was most likely taken by joy-riders or someone wanting to get home.

The Sunny/Pulsar is not a model likely to be nicked so it's a puzzle why the scumbags nicked this one! I was worried about my mate's trailer attached to our car but as it was parked right outside our bedroom window, they may have figured it was too big a risk.

It'll probably show up in a few days a little worse for wear with a smashed ignition barrel, possibly with a few bits missing like a stereo or small amounts of money.

Pretty much what the Police said, We do hope so, as it was a real mint little old lady owner car and Lee was just getting ready to give his son driving lessons in it! Unfortunately it has to be parked on the central median in the street as Lee's van is in the carpark for the flat and our son's car is in the other spare park.

Our area of town is traditionally about the safest and least likely area for anything to be stolen! I think this is a first for our street. Many people have left doors unlocked for years. Teenagers do come up the street these days though. SOme lowlife is taking delight in scratching off my mailbox numbers. I've been using stick on numbers since the original brass numbers were prised off.

One night I'm going to catch the sods in the act...

FWIW that's what happened to one of my shit boxes years ago... turned up the next day, only fault was they left the door open which flattened the battery. Was taken from a rough part of the town, and left in another rough part of town, so presumably some drunk twat didn't want to walk home on that (quite cold) evening.

Why do you think that? Stolen vehicles are only found to be stolen when a cop checks the rego when moving or the VIN etc when stopped.

Many stolen vehicles are being driven around and go undetected until a cop has either received information it is stolen and spots the vehicle, or makes enquiries on a vehicle and finds out it was listed as stolen.

Stolen plates are just as problematic.

When they were arrested, the boot had a box of breaking and entering tools in it. The glovebox was full of cellphones. They had done stupid stuff like carving at the steering wheel and hood lining with a knife, and removing the air-filter and chucking it in the back seat.

They'd stolen a Subaru Legacy from Northland and abandoned it on Grand Dr. wandered down our street and took Lee's Sunny. They gassed up and did a runner, which shows again how stupid theives are, so every Cop in the country was looking out for it!

The downside is that it was only insured third party so Lee has to pay to fix it up. If they do get sentenced for reparation... well you know how likely it is that Lee will ever get paid...
